American portion sizes combined with our support of cash crops has created a weird food economy were people eat more food then necessary more often than necessary yet still rarely get all the nutrients they need. After majoring in biology I had a much clearer understanding of what certain foods are made out of and what my body needed to survive. I soon found out the vast majority of the food I ate would fill up my stomach but not necessarily satisfy the cravings my body was actually having. Which leads to the eating more often part. This disconnect between what I ate and what I need existed because of Americas fast food industry. Taking the time to plan and cook effective meals has been nearly destroyed thanks to Americas work heavy culture. And the cheapest foods for companies to manufacture and sell quickly to these short on time Americans are those based on cash crops. Cash crops aren't bad for us but they do flood the market with only a select few types of nutrients which causes us to injest a lot of the same stuff day after day while never getting other types of nutrients. So couple this unsatisfying lopsided diet with Americas shift away for physical labor and you end up with people who move very little throughout the day who cram their bodies full of things that don't always help in a very mentally stressful work environment. and stress no matter if it's physical or mental teaches your body to retain unused nutrients for the future in fat cells. Which is why Americans are fat. We have a surplus of a few nutrients, not enough of the others, barely any exercise, in nearly permanent stressful environments, and have bodies naturally designed to conserve nutrients in fat cells during stressful times. In the wild stress was something felt when a bear shows up and only lasted for a few moments so not only did you store les but you almost always burned most of it just trying to get somewhere safe. Now we just sit still and pack on the pounds.

Because in America, you mostly get your glass of coke refilled as long as you're eating.
Water often only seems to be a 2nd choice and is usually offered apart from your soda for example, so you'll be drinking soda for the most part.
Then, you have to drive to wherever you need to go most of the time since it'd take ages to walk or to go by bike.
Also, there are substances in American foods that would never be allowed in EU food, that's why American teenagers tend to hit puberty much earlier compared to European teenager. German 18 year olds look like 12 year olds compared to many Americans with the same age for instance.
Not everyone can afford highly qualitative food as well.
Then, Americans are so buys with their work that they eat out very often and to save money, they eat fast food.
Plus, there doesn't seem to be much education on healthy eating habits in the US at many schools...
That explains why many are overweight :/
Lots of reasons:
○ Local fast food advertising (deals like "buy 4 cheeseburgers for $4.00").
○ Fast food is usually cheaper and more efficient, especially for teenagers, college students and parents with little kids. They might not always want to cook a healthy meal, so they just end up going to McDonald's or ordering pizza.
○ Increase of fat-shaming in the media which encourages people with eating disorders to binge.
○ Lack of healthy options in school cafeterias (cafeteria food being replaced with privatized fast food restaurants).
○ Lack of exercise & motivation.
○ Poor education brought to students regarding nutrition and creating a balanced diet using the four food groups.
○ Increase in artificial sweeteners and trans fats in foods to make them more appealing and addictive to children.
Because burgers taste better than lettuce.

Cuz some of them can't cook.
img.buzzfeed.com/.../...zz-19376-1372807639-37.gifThink about how much driving we do in this country compared to other nations around the world. The USA's territory since the 13 colonies expanded so rapidly throughout out short history, that the infastructure of transportation is based on automobiles.
With public transportation there is some walking involved to get TO the station/stop, and going to the transferring station/stop, then walking to your destination.
In America most of us walk to the driveway, and drive to the front of the building. WAY less movement!Actually the rest of the world seems to be getting fatter because we've been overtaken by other countries for the spot of the fattest country by Mexico with the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the like being pretty close to us in terms of unhealthiness living and obesity.
But that's why I am becoming a professional trainer to change the world for the better one pound at a time.Lack of exercise and abundance of processed, fast food. Americans live to work so most don't have time to cook healthy meals. Plus, most Americans are overly dependent on their cars so don't get to walk everywhere like most Europeans do.
Shitty lifestyle and diet choices
Sugar and enriched carbs in many popular foods
Lack of education regarding nutrition
TV, office environment
And fat acceptance mentality/redefining personnel health standardsThey eat too much, especially of the wrong kinds of food, and they don't exercise enough. Except for a small percentage of people who have some kind of endocrine imbalance, it's pretty much that simple.
Same reason people in other countries get fat. Either they eat too much or they have a problem with metabolism or both. People in different countries don't work differently.
I am sorry I had to much chocolate!!! Don't attack the chubby apple!
Look at the preservatives in our food. I try to avoid preservatives when buying food. It's Hell. So little I can still eat without getting sick or gaining weight.
This is us boiling water

Fast-paced society = no time to cook = ordering out. Obesity in America, in a nut shell.
I heard that there's way more fastfood places than there's healthy stuff, and with fastfood being the closest food there is at your place, your choice can be easily made
Because the government is trying to poison ALL of our foods.
There's more money changing hands when someone is fat.
Some people say we don't exercise enough. Some people point to a diet change suggestion in the 80's that immediately preceded obesity.
