How many people here identify themselves as a 'higly sensitive person' ?

For those of you who are not quite sure what I am talking about, but would like to know: https://hsperson.com

For all my life, or at least as long as I can remember, I have been an extremely emotionally sensitive person, and upon recent contemplation and research, I believe now that I am someone who falls under the term 'highly sensitive person', or to be more scientifically specific 'sensory processing sensitivity'.

I have always struggled with this, and as such, it has made a huge negative mark on my life, to the point where my life is not going anywhere at this point. I am currently in therapy for anxiety/depression, am unemployed and have been for an absurd amount of time now. I am also taking medication for aforementioned mental health conditions.

Something else that I have always struggled with, is taking a joke that is aimed at me, or some words of criticism. Sometimes it will not cause a reaction within me, but for the most part, I am emotionally affected on a level that the people around me (which are very few at the moment) just seem not to be able to understand, and tends to create conflicts. So when someone tells me to "lighten up" or "not to take things so seriously" it greatly stresses me out, and makes me feel like an angry idiot, because I genuinely can't help feeling that way when someone says something like that to me.

I know that I am a HSP, because of the things I have mentioned previously here, and also because I am a highly creative and caring person that goes out of his way to make sure that I am not making anyone uncomfortable, or offending anyone. I also struggle to let things go, no matter how small or menial it may be. Some rather mundane tasks to everyone else, can drain me hugely.

Now to my question. I would like to ask if there are any people here who identify as a HSP, and have learnt to manage themselves and all the thoughts and emotions that assault them on a day to day basis?

Thanks.
