Do calories at 12 AM count for the text day?

I had calories from 12 Am till 1AM so do they count for the next day?

I always count it towards the current day, but in the end it doesn't matter if you count it towards 'today' or 'tomorrow' as long as it's counted

If you were over your calorie budget at 11:59 then yes, put those on the next day.

Eating a big breakfast is an absolutely horrible idea, except for people who are naturally super slim.
For everyone else, a big breakfast causes a blood-sugar crash in the middle of the day, *and* makes people more hungry literally all day long (because their stomachs are physically expanded).

I suppose it depends on the person's schedule. I eat at least 50% of all my calories within 4-6 hours of going to sleep.

Eating RIGHT before bedtime isn't the greatest idea, since it virtually guarantees that you'll have to get up at least once to go to the restroom... but, for weight and appetite control, it's definitely better to eat most of yr calories close to bedtime.

The other problem with "don't eat at night" is that an empty stomach ruins sleep quality, too. (The satiety hormones that are released with a decent-size meal also help people sleep better. Also, I mean... you don't sleep well if you're hungry, do you?)

If the midnight snack is shitty food, yeah, it will fuck up yr progress.

Incidentally, trying to calculate exact calories on a daily basis is kind of silly, anyway, except for total beginners (for whom it doesn't matter if the daily calories are off by a couple hundred or so).

For more advanced athletes / fitness competitors, "daily calories" doesn't really work anymore, because it's impossible to measure with that much precision. But, assuming you cook several days' worth of food at a time, WEEKLY calories can be calculated accurately to within 1 or 2 percentage points.

@redeyemindtricks you are the professional here :D i'm not able to go to sleep well if i eat close to my bedtime (which is prtty early 10:00 on weekdays) and i sleep better on an empty stomach than with a stomach full of carbs BUT i haven't tried a stomach full of protein lol so i'll try that out.

yeah, you should find what works for you.

I don't think you have any issues with weight management, so, you needn't concern yourself too much with the research about maximum appetite control and so on. (If you were very overweight and trying to lose a large amount of weight, the most effective -- and least painful -- way to do that would be to fast for the first 6-10 hours you were awake.)

The bedtime protein thing is especially valuable on days when you do weight workouts (which is pretty much common sense).
