What are some tips to help prevent me from overdoing it?

I keep over-doing it and thats a no no for someone with my medical conditions. It takes me a long time to recover from things. I'll be in pain for days or sometimes weeks. I'm doing cardio every other day instead of everday like I was doing but I'm still overdoing it. What are some tips to help prevent me from overdoing it.
