Phlem in my throat?

Hi, so i was recently diagnosed with an ear infection. Along with this infection, i have a cold. I felt mucus in my sinuses and it was a terrible feeling. A couple of hours ago, i swallowed a HUGE ball of mucus and i still kind of feel it in my throat... Im contantly coughing and feel just a tiny bit nauseous... What can i do to get rid of that ball of mucus? Anything i can do without having to throw it up?

The best thing is to get a smallish bowl, like a pudding basin, and fill it with hot water. Breath in the resultant steam for 10 to 15 minutes. Mind you don't breath in steam that's too hot. Repeat 3 or 4 times a day. Add a few drops of Olbas oil or Eucalyptus oil, which will help.

You can spit it out and to lessen the over all mucus you can drink mint tea, or suck on cough drops to help keep your sinuses open. A hot shower helps too.
