People who've had colonoscopies... or any surgery for that matter... did you get a chance to talk to the surgeon after the procedure?

My boyfriend just had a colonoscopy on Monday. I didn't hear from him, or his family, all day so after I got home from work, I texted him telling him that I hoped he was ok & I loved him. He called me practically screaming on the phone that he was pissed bc he wanted to talk to the doctor & go over the procedure once he was awake & alert. But the nurse told him he was busy (or gone... or both I can't remember anymore). But he just kept going on & on. He was mad he had to set up another appt just to talk to him. "Well why can't he call? Doesn't he have 5 mins just to chat? I don't even know my results!"

Holy shit...& that was all within...3 minutes of him picking up. No "hi babe, sorry no one contacted you at all today."

Pretty sure...98% of the time the doctor actually IS BUSY...& they either set up a day to go over things or send you a letter/email... something. right?

I work at a hospital and generally the dr will talk with family after and then most times that's it, the dr may stop by and check on the patient if he's still at the hospital later after surgery but most times they just chat the next day if inpatient or at the follow up appointment. I'm assuming it was a gastroenterologist who preformed it and those guys are def in and out. When our patients get scoped the or team sets up the equipment and what not and the dr shows up to do the procedure, make a not and leaves and the or team finishes up the rest of getting all the equipment and putting papers in the charts. Drs have lots of patients and have to keep moving to see all the patients. The dr should have set up an appointment as follow up to see how he's doing and to go over what he saw and did.

humm... sorry your boyfriend yelled at you. he shouldn't be talking to you like that. don't think meds do that to you. (jk)

I have had a few routine screening colonoscopies and those are the only procedures I have ever had. They were done at a clinic that routinely does such things. The doctor always came back after I woke up and told me the results. This sounds like a bad physician.

I just spoke briefly with someone. Not the Dr. I was to make a follow up appointment with my Dr. I do remember that person saying there was one polyp, it looked benign. It would be sent in to be tested.
