What kind of surgery are you talking about?
I've had multiple surgeries, but they were all necessary and urgent. While the surgeries weren't pleasent, during the ones that required general anesthesia I was out so I couldn't experience the surgeons cutting in me. However, the first time I required an intravenously applied general anaesthetic, the application of the anaesthetic did make me feel very sick and unpleasant. The next time I asked if the anaesthetic could be applied more slowly so it wasn't as abrupt. This made it a lot less unpleasant.
I've also had surgeries that required local anaesthesia. In this case it is very essential that enough of the anaesthetic is applied, that it is applied in the right way and that it is given enough time to fully desensitize the area that is being worked on. During one of my surgeries this wasn't done properly and it hurt like hell! The doctor at the doctors office thought she could just do it. The next time I required a similar surgery I made sure it was carried out by a proper surgeon in the hospital and the area was properly anesthetized. My mother had a different problem once where the dentist didn't have the correct needle to apply the anaesthetic. Instead of rescheduling the surgery and ordering the proper needle, he tried it with a different needle that didn't have the proper reach. Because of this practically her whole face was anesthetized, but the place that actually required the anaesthetic wasn't properly anesthetized. I believe at this point the dentist decided not to continue with the surgery and he got the proper equipment...
The takeaway is: Make sure the anaesthetic is properly applied, this can spare you a lot of pain and discomfort. Also make sure the surgery is performed by the right people and at the right place.

I had Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) while I was in the military. It is an eye operation similar to Lasik. The military covered it. The recovery sucked, but the results were worth it. For the first 2 days I was blind, which scared the shit out of me (even though the surgeon said this is ok) because I was scared i'd be one of the rare exceptions where the blindness is permanent (even though the chance of that was less than 1%). Even then, I spent a week in bed on pain meds and getting my eyes to readjust. Spent a month after that wearing sunglasses indoors and outdoors and still having to do eye drops. Took 2 months to fully be able to use my eyes without ANY side effects.
I had surgery on my eye because it was turning in, and on my penis (circumcision)
Wasn't the pleasant of experiences in regards to the 'After care', but... it was fine overall.
I've also had wisdom teeth extracted. Not pleasant.
Honest though, it's natural to worry and think the worse. It's not pleasant to have surgery, but its usually for good reason and you're in safe hands (granted its with a trusted health care service), so, I wouldn't over stress.
I hope it all goes well for you. x
I have had over 30 surgeries. I have had a hip replacement, brain surgery, esophageal surgery,10 knee surgeries and a cervical fusion 8 weeks ago to mention a few. What type of surgery are you having?

I had one traumatizing surgery when I was 9, throat surgery while I was awake it was horrible just horrible.
Then i had 3 more which were perfectly fine since they injected general anaesthesia (knock you out in 10 seconds) you wake you with pain, take some painkillers and just enjoy the high from the drug they injected in you. Yes it's euphoric (at least for me). The walls would come down on me I was light headed and very calm. I always carry my headphones with me so after surgery i can put them on and enjoy some music. It's great don't worry, just relax and let it get done.Yeah, I had surgery on my flat feet.
It sucked. I had to be on a cast for 3 months.
And for some reason the doctors took my underwear off and I woke up naked.
I remember I was crying as they were giving me sleeping gas.
And they wouldn't let me out of the hospital until I ate something.
Then when I got home I got high off the meds they gave me, and I remember leaving my body and floating up towards the ceiling.
Being in a wheel chair sucked though. And I still have the scars.Yep I had brain surgery when I was 6 years old. I donāt remember much from it but I do remember having to spend a lot of time at the hospital. Thankfully I made a full recovery afterwards. Itās nerve wracking having any kind of surgery but more than likely the benefits outweigh the risks.
Iāve had surgeries before, two to be exact. One for circumcision awhile ago and the other to extract my wisdom teeth. Both went well, no overly negative things that I can remember, except for the feelings afterwards of dizziness, soreness, etc. just like all surgeries Iām sure.
I have had numerous surgeries over the years. I find the worst part is the anxiety leading up to surgery. Once your at the hospital they usually give you something for that. Once in the operating room and anesthesia is given it's like you blink and surgery is done. Recovery from each surgery was different some where easy others not so much. But the outcomes from each one was worth it. They have improved my life. Just make sure you follow your doctors directions for recovery.
I had surgey on my ears due to birth defect and it's not to bad takes about 20 seconds then your knocked out and its like being in a really deep sleep then you wake up drunk for a out 1 hr lol then your good.
I just had surgery 4 weeks ago and it was good but thereās only a 50 percent chance that surgery will work
What kind of surgery. A lot will depend on what's getting done to you and what the projected recovery time is...
Surgeries where I went under, and they worked on me? Oh, maybe about 3 times, if you count Wisdome teeth removal and things like that.
Had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once. I had one of my tooth pulled the dentist couldnāt get it out the roots were so deep. It hurt like a mfāer
omg yes ! i had a tumor in one of my ovaries ! that turned abscessed & omg i was so scared ! i woke up with my throat hurting so bad !
Yes I have. It was successful.
Doctors had to perform an exploratory surgery to my abdomen and back. I was shot in my back with a sawed off shotgun. One piece of buckshot hit my kidney. The other 200 or so pieces were scattered all through me.I had my wisdom teeth extracted.
I was in and out in maybe 20 mins. The pain came after the anesthesia wore off. Yikes. How are you āthinking of havingā it? You either need surgery, or you donāt.
Yes, I had but I was only 3 years old then. Hence I don't really remember how the surgery was.
Only wisdom tooth extraction but I think that counts 😅
I have had a couple. The surgeries were fine. It was the recovery period that I hated.
