Does anyone have any experience with being sedated?

Soon I will be going in for a day procedure at hospital and the Dr's are going to sedate me. Im going to be given 2 things.
A sedative pill to take in the morning at home. Its for my anxiety. I've been told I will get a bit loopy and super relaxed and my boyfriend will have to supervise me but I'll still be ok to walk myself into the reception of the hospital and might just not remember it very well.

The 2nd will be Iv sedation that will just have me on the very edge of being asleep and awake.

Im a massive control freak and I am really freaking out about losing my self control even though I trust my boyfriend.
Does anyone here have experience with being sedated?
how does it feel when the drugs first start to take hold?
does it happen slowly or really quickly?

You're just kind of out of it. More so then when you 1st wake up.
The pill makes you a little tired & cuts down anxiety. The IV doesn't hurt. If I remember correctly they start the IV in your room. When you get to the OR they give you an IV push. Within seconds you're in sleep mode. It's hard to explain it's almost as if you don't care, your so tired.

I used to help girls at college feel sedated at parties but I always took them home to make sure they were safe

Honestly , just go with the flow ! It makes you feel tired but that's suppose to happen, don't panick! With me it happened fast , before you know it you're already awake and the procedure is done.

This looks like a light sedation, so nothing to worry about. And the real sedation (assume its gas) goes so fast you don't even realize it. The first pill is just something to calm you down.
