Trying to understand the minds of u guys. Have a friend who does crossfit... very in shape and competitive. There was a competition a few weeks ago but he needed a partner. He decided not to do the competition cause he said the chics are "frumpy". To me thats a word I use for fat. So of course I got alil bent outta shape cause im def not crossfit material and not in shape. So I questioned him on it and he said he doesn't look at me that way. Is he telling the truth or he doesn't want to start up something that could lead to a fight?

As @RJGraveyTrain points out, "frumpy" means sloppy, disheveled, lack of fashion sense, and generally little care about your appearance. It doesn't mean fat, though being fat could be part of being frumpy (but by itself isn't frumpy).

I think of frumpy as old lady-ish. Like you can be 50 and look frumpy like an old grandma or you can be 50 and wear chic, nice clothing (i. e. not frumpy).

Frumpy doesn't mean "fat" in my world; it means more like disheveled or not put together, unfeminine, etc.
