Will braces change my jaw and mouth area?

i have a 6mm overjet and i am getting braces on both my upper and lower arches, i have a drawn face and would like a wider jaw or some cheeks... my ortho has told me she will be widening my bottom row of teeth and pushing my top row back, will this make my face look a bit wider and give me a wider smile and better face profile?

I'm not sure if it'll make your face look wider, but I suppose if your dentist is going to be widening the bottom row, it could appear wider.

For me, I had a pretty good overbite. I had braces for 3 years, which included varying rubberband placement to correct it. After the 3 years, I had a normal bite, which really complimented my facial structure, and a nice profile... and obviously straight teeth and a nice smile. So, I'd say it's definitely possible.

Yes. I had a friend who got braces just too stretch out his mouth

stretch out his mouth? as in make the bottom half of his face a bit wider?

I don't know. It's my sisters ex. I could be wrong. He could of just said he did
