Has cancer affected you or someone you care about?

I'm just curious to see how many have been affected by cancer whether it's your own experience with cancer or maybe someone you love and care about? and if you or someone you care about has had cancer could you say which cancer? Obviously only if you want too if not that's okay <3

My dad has lung cancer. I grew up watching him slowly kill himself with cigarettes. I'd stay at his house on weekends and struggle to sleep, while he stayed up all night coughing and smoking. I hate cigarettes, the sound of coughing, and anyone stupid enough to smoke over a pot of food on the stove.

I hated seeing and hearing it. He was in agony; I could see it. He never said it hurt, but I know it had to. His throat was swollen. He told me that it would collapse sometimes and a doctor would have to expand it somehow. His many different treatments left him unable to eat at all, going on long liquid fasts and getting holes cut in his stomach and throat for a feeding tube. He liked to think of it as having a second belly button. He went from being overweight to being super thin. He has chicken legs now. But damn, he's still breathing.

Both sets of grandparents and great grandparents, my dad, and my aunt died of cancer. My great grandparents and grandparents all died of different types of terminal cancer, but my dad and aunt both died of stage 3 brain cancer before they were 34. The genetic probability of me developing terminal cancer before I am 27 is around 78%. (Based on what my father's doctor said about cancer in my family) Cancer really sucks.

I've had 1 family member pass away from cancer but many family-friends who have passed away from it. My auntie had melanoma (skin cancer) and was cured, she then had breast cancer and got rid of it and then a few years later the cancer returned and went to her spine and unfortunately chemo failed and she passed away not long after diagnosis, I hope a cure for this happens soon

My Mom's Dad and Mom/My Dad's dad. Never got to meet my Mom's mom or my Dad's dad, but I wish I had.

My grandpa died from a tumor in his head, my grandma survived breast cancer, my cousin died from a tumor in his head as well & another cousin survived leukaemia. It luckily skipped the generation of my parents but in my generation the members of my family are more prone to get it again.. I also have some distant relatives that died from cancer but that didn't affect me that much.

My grandmother had breast cancer once and had the lump removed then had it again a few years later and decided to have the whole breast removed. My grandfather currently has cancer, I think that it's in his throat?

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2008. She had an older sister who died from it back in the 90's, and her grandmother wound up getting it too

No one has had it in my family.
All of my family members died because of oldness.

In fact, researches prooved that you can't die because you are too old. There's always some other reason why people die.

Actually they died cause they were so old that their organs couldn't function properly anymore.
Death of someone who we loved is always painful, I am sorry for everyone who died because of cancer, my friends grandpa died because of cancer.

Yeah, I'm sorry for all those people suffering and their friends/family, I just wanted to point out that you cannot die because you are too old. But I do agree people can die because of organ disfunction.

One of my mom's best friends had breast cancer, as did a friend of mine's mother.

Aunt and uncle beat it, lost 3 cousins, dad, both grandparents on that side. Definitely runs in the family.

My father died from it, my mom had it but survived, my mother in law had it but survived. At least two friends died from cancer.

My best friend died of liver cancer. Had another die of bladder cancer.

Yes, breast cancer runs very strong in my family and I took care of my sister when she had it.

I had thyroid cancer, have been in remission for over a year.
A few people in my family have had skin cancer.

5 years ago two females I new got breast cancer I had a great uncle die of it and my roommates dad died of it
