I have both an anxiety disorder and a panic disorder.
I get an awful lot of anxiety from meeting new poeple yet my job requires that I do so. The worse part is mentally thinking that the worse will happen. After I get through that and remember that only one in ten at more encounters are not enjoyable it helps. So I smile and say hi and get on with business.
I have a panic disorder that I have to do control in large crowded rooms. I have to find a focal point of sound or listen to my music or I loose it. Due to some kind of hearing thingy in my head. If I start feeling like I'm going to panic I usually poke my fingernail into my thumb so I can focus on the pain instead of the terrible noise while I make my hasty exit out of the room.

Let yourself be frightened... face up to them, dare them to hurt you.. Stand near water if you are afraid of it, for example. Let your fear max out and then you'll be cured of it.
Yeah I used to have really high social anxiety along with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). I still do have GAD, but it's decreased a lot, which I owe to both seeing a counsellor and overcoming my own mental blocks.
I'm pretty sure I have anxiety, but it's never been diagnosed, so I cannot say for sure.
