+1 yIt's partially genetic and partially induced by habit. The skinny ones have been eating very little for a long time, their stomaches are smaller than the fat ones for example. Therefore they'll be full sooner. If you overeat a lot, your stomach expands and gets used to more food. If you eat very little for a long time, it shrinks again and can't handle those supersize meals anymore.
Simpler life hacks to eat slightly less:
- eat a lot at breakfast and don't eat anything after dinner. I used to have an eating disorder and got to the point where I enjoyed going to bed feeling empty. If your bmi is 17 that might be a bad idea, but if it's 35, it might be a good thing.
- eat more fiber. it helps you stay full. Whole grain bread instead of white. wholegrain pasta and rice exist too.
- drink water before meals and any time you're about to snack. Sometimes your body mistakes thirst for hunger.
-eat salads before fat foods instead of the other way round, so you'll eat more salad and less off the fat food.
-stop eating sugar. this is hard: at first you'll be craving it 24/7. that will go away in some time, until you don't feel the need to eat sugar at all anymore.
- eat less salt. your mouth gets used to whatever amount of salt you eat. At first your meals will taste dull, but later on saltless things will start tasting salty anyways.
hope any of that helps.111 Reply
Asker+1 y- it's 33 actually so yes I could afford to starve myself a bit.
- I don't eat carbs on a daily basis. Not main carbs sources anyway.
- thing is, because food tastes so good, I eat even though I'm already full. I could eat until I feel sick
- I almost always have an extra bowl of veggies next to my meats, and I take one bite here one bite there. So simultaneously. Is that a good thing?
- yeah this is what is hardest for me. I can avoid sugary drinks, easy, but I do need a desert after every meal. That is like to signal. my brain "ok meal time is over". So if I haven't had desert yet, it means meal time is not over yet and I c poo Ulf snack on savory stuff like chips. It's a sickness, isn't it?- +1 y
- I didn't mean to starve yourself, only abstain from eating if you get hungry again a few hrs after dinner. Try to cut back on desert size too and only fill up on healthy foods.
- I know the feeling of wanting to eat until you're sick. My best method is: not shopping when hungry and not buying anything I'd want to binge on. If I have a bar of chocolate, it lasts one day, no matter how big it is. If all the sweet stuff I have in my kitchen is appels, I get bored after 4 or 5 small ones or 3 big ones.
I fail sometimes, but usually the only foods I have that do not need excessive processing are fruits, vegetables, cheese, egg salad and whole grain bread. Oh and sometimes some nuts. It may drive me crazy sometimes not to be able to snack, but Im too lazy to make an extra trip to the supermarket so it works.
-simultaneously eating salads and other foods is okay I suppose. As long as that salad bowl goes empty.
Asker+1 yI always plan my snacks actually. So I buy things I know I would eat before my next trip to the store. Thing is, I sometimes eat the amount of chips or chocolate that was meant for 2 meals, all in one sitting.
- +1 y
oh and one last thing that makes it more managable: once you cut unhealthy foods from your daily diet and only eat them once in a while on special occasions, they will taste so. fucking. good.
I drink alcohol and eat fast food and eat sweets and chocolate and doughnuts and chips - but only once a week or less, and only when with friends. And I truly enjoy it whenever I do.
Before, I ate them out of laziness, not even noticing the tastes anymore. And Pasta and bread have become my new comfort foods.
Asker+1 yHaha yeah I have been there. They do taste so good and then it won't make me want to stop eating them. Besides, I currently have no life and no friends. So my weekends are just as boring and lonely as my weekdays. I realise I do eat less if I'm amongst people cause if I'm sitting alone at home, I'd go on YouTube and eat just so that my hands have something to do and I don't sleep like 18 hours a day
- +1 y
again: not having any fast food at home helps.
Asker+1 yWhat counts as fast food though? Cause I can't cook. Not allowed in my building. So I can only stem, boil, or use the small oven to heat foods. I end up buying a lot of processed foods cause they're the easiest to heat up. Sausages, chicken, eggs, are my staple every day.
- +1 y
damn that sounds terrible.
still, you can make a lot of healthy stuff in that oven. And remove all snack foods (cookies, crisps, chocolate, anything sugary) from your house.
substituting meat for vegetarian options can also help. think quinoa, beans, tofu or soy.
Asker+1 yYeah I already have nothing sugary and snacks in my house anyway. I buy per day.
But I am on low carb feeding. Soy has a ton of carbs, right?- +1 y
Low carb isn't all that healthy. Balance is everything :)

Thanks for mho!

Instead of restricting yourself (which always backfires because it makes you want it more), follow a healthy meal plan. If you don't have unhealthy food in the household, you won't have a chance to eat it. There are a lot of meals that are super filling but healthy. I'm someone who eats a lot but when I follow a meal plan I always find that it requires me to eat more than I'm used to (best diet ever). Also sometimes you confuse thirst for hunger, so if you're craving a snack try to drink some water first.

+1 yI enjoy food too... one thing is to still eat the things you love, just less of it! I used to use a whole chicken breast when I made myself curry, now I use half of one (with the bonus it stretches to two meals now), for example. Don't deny yourself the things you love or it will make you crazy! Allow yourself some, but eat less, that is the willpower side of it.
Another is to exercise! Weight loss is diet and activity!12 Reply
Asker+1 yWhat's so bad about chicken breast? It's like the healthiest protein source!

+1 yInstead of overeating, eat more consciously. Enjoy and appreciate the food. Don't rush, but eat and chew properly to pay attention to when your stomach is full.
In addition eat healthy (this does not mean you only eat salads, but you avoid junkfood most of the time and cook your meals yourself, etc) and do some basic exercises (drive with bike, play volleyball, whatever you find enjoyable).02 Reply

Then you have no right to complain. There is no easy way. Either you want something and put effort into it - or you don't want it enough.

+1 yyou don't need to dislike food to loose weight. Food is a joy. Thinking badly about if will only make you want to eat more.
Try portion control. Half everything you would normally eat and start exercising (start with 30 min walk). making a lighter version of food also works wonders.13 Reply
Asker+1 yHalf portions sounds like a good advice actually. But then after I finish my main meal I continue with snack. Like today, my lunch was like this: 3 sausages, 2 eggs, some veggies. And then once I finish, I continued with coated peanuts. All eaten from 12 p. m. to 2 p. m. I only stopped eating because I needed to go to the bank
- +1 y
well it's a good idea to compare the types of food. Nuts are high in fat so maybe the peanuts calories are equal to your whole lunch. Try to minimise what's ready to eat available at finger tips food around you. Raw potatos instead of frozen ones. when it's too much trouble you'll eat less.
one more thing is when you get used to eat less you will be satisfied with the new portions unless you forced yourself to eat more.
Asker+1 yExcept that this is how I think: the more inconvenient the prep is, I'll think of preparing in bulk to save time next time. But in the end, I eat more than enough. Oh and I'm doing a low carb thing. So peanuts are actually good. It was the coating and the amount that wasn't. I don't know why I do that.

Asker+1 yNo other room. We are not allowed to cook here.
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yTry cutting out carbs just eat meat fruit and vegetables, also what you eat isn't always the best way of controlling weight at the same time you could try some form of cardio such as running, jogging, walking , swimming etc to help burn calories whilst keeping up a healthy diet which is ultimately one of the fastest ways I know to loose weight. Or eat 5 small meals a day. Also by eating things like almonds they will fill you up more and make you want to eat less , but if your a lover of food there's also the eat like a king method which is basically have a huge breakfast big lunch and small dinner without snacking , this way it makes up for each meal and it should keep you on a healthy balanced diet.

+1 yHypnotism.
Dude this is something like... inherent. You can't teach a hate for food. Plus food is so fucking amazing, why would you WANT to hate it? Please don't change your love for food.
Instead, have you tried different foods? There's tons of sites and books that help you find different, healthier, more weight-loss friendly foods. They also help you with portion control and balancing meals.00 Reply- 1.4K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
+1 yEasy. Be determined to only eat very health stuff. No sugar, very low fat. If you commit to that, you'll was less, cause it just doesn't taste good. Go for stuff with minimal calorie density.

Asker+1 yYours is actually the only opinion that makes sense. I just thought about it myself like 2 minutes ago. Not so poopyhead huh?
- +1 y
I've seen that show too xD. There's still no trick to losing weight. It's only determination. You experienced it yourself without determination you will lose your progress. Stick with it. Make the decision and just don't have second thoughts about it.
You can't and shouldn't become less passionate about food. I google cake shops when hungry, I follow food blogs for the pictures. But I manage to control what I eat by finding better snacks or meals. I snack on sweet potato, raisins, instead of crisps and chocolate. And though it's not as good, when I'm done eating them. I'm too full for fatty foods. Try substitution, that's a tactic you can keep on forever.
00 ReplyJust drink a bottle of water (>500ml) about 10-15 min before you eat and eat from smaller, black or blue plates because it tricks the mind into having less of an appetite & feeling full much quicker.

+1 yThey lie, they psychologically associate food with their figure. Could kill them, hurts their health. Nothing wrong with liking food. Self control. Carb count. Point apps. Try foods that have high flavor value but lower nutritional count (airy food). Blend in fiber from vegetables to fill you up while keeping your carb count at a safe level.
Annnd, exercise. More you burn, more you earn. So you can look good AND sate your love of food.10 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yYour mentality is not healthy. That's not the wise way to lose weight. All you need to do is replace the unhealthy food you've been consuming, with healthier food choices. You don't need to hate the food in order to lose weight. Loving and hating the food are both unhealthy extremes.

Anyone with even the slightest knowledge of health will tell you what you're asking is completely stupid. Starving yourself and making yourself hate food is foolish. You should see a nutritionist and get yourself on a healthy diet

Asker+1 yI have tried everything. This whole loving food thing is just a massive hurdle. I know it's not good, but it would make my losing weight so much easier if I didn't find food all that great. I wanna know how to change this attitude towards food. Now for me, food is comfort and joy. So I eat even though I'm not hungry.
You don't need to dislike food, you need to develop sensible eating habits.

Why don't you just eat healthy, and exercise? It helps. No need to dislike food. 🙋
