Is it cake or pie?

So I've heard this debate for awhile now and I was just wondering what everyone else thought.

Is Cheesecake a cake or a pie?

It's not cake - It doesn't have the fluffiness.

It's not a pie - It's not liquidy.

However, it's more like a pie than a cake, because of the way it's laid out. It has a crust, and something inside.

it's neither really. It's a confection...cakes usually have flour as a base, pies have a fruit filling and a pastry type crust.

I would say pie, But Cheesepie doesn't sound as delicious.

It's a cake. Pies have crusts.

Most cheesecakes have a crushed and compacted graham cracker crust, which leans toward pie. Also, cakes rise and cheesecakes don't. Hell if I know. It's some weird hybrid as far as I'm concerned, haha. I don't really care, I just want to eat it. =P
