Let's be honest with ourselves, AI is not going to destroy humanity. Humanity created AI and we created nuclear weapons. If we wipe ourselves out, it will be humanity committing genocide, not the tools we created.

So what's the likelihood of that. Look at our technological progress from the industrial revolution to present. In 275 years we have gone from horses and sailing ships to spacecraft and container ships. From bleeding the sick with leaches to medical imaging devices that can look inside our brains. And from bows and arrows and broadswords to bombs that use nuclear fusion to wipe out cities in seconds and drones that make warfare a risk free annoyance.

Meanwhile sociologically we have gone almost nowhere in 3,000 years. We are still superstitious, mean, angry, jealous, racist, misogynist, greedy, sex motivated, and not that fucking bright on average.

But the monkeys now have space based nuclear missiles, nuclear armed submarines, and AI. What can go wrong?

I recently listened to a conversation between two 10yo kids where one was saying that learning things at school was useless because he has chatgpt that knows everything...

It made me wonder about the cascading consequences of what is probably not an isolated point of view

No I think the bigger danger is how people choose to use it. So but yeah, I definitely think there should be regulations and boundaries, especially as it gets more powerful…

You notice this shit is not discussed in real tech countries like China, Japan and Korea, right?

Also, so called AI is only a small part of the overall tech stack. There is power generation, hardware, software, the harness for the model to run... etc etc. It's like complaining about guns, while saying nothing about ammo and magazines.

Not really. In order to interact with it in any effective way, you have to be smart enough to give it correct instructions, and you have to be smart enough to ask it the correct questions. As someone who regularly interacts with AI, I can tell you that those are not easy tasks.
