FIFA '10 horn issues

OK WHAT THE HELL...so Americans (yes I am an American) are complaining about watching the world cup and having to hear the TRUE fans who actually show up to the games blow their horns...now there's this HUGE commotion about it...why can't us Americans understand that THIS IS NORMAL, they are cheering their team on...look if you don't like the god damn noise MUTE YOUR TELEVISION! you don't have to hear what the announcers say to understand what the hell is going on...

my questions is to anyone who cares to answer it...should they really ban the horns just because people watching TV get annoyed by it?

seriously tho, are people that annoyed by it? this is a regular thing across the world...weather it be the horns or chants, or songs, AMERICANS GROW UP this IS NOT our sport, yes this is the WORLDS sport, but we are NOT dominate in the sport compared to the teams/countries whose lives revolve around it...football (well American football) is OUR sport, we love that game, imagine other countries complaining about our teams chants or songs or noise making...come on people GET REAL, mute your TV if you can't stand it...hell I noticed it, but after a little it was just normal and didn't bother me at all...

sometimes I hate being an American because we think everything needs to go our way and if we don't start the "trend" then it shouldn't be allowed...damn I'm sick and tired of seeing articles everywhere...

its one thing if it distracts the players and referee's ...if it does and it causes them to miss calls or whatever then yes I agree it should stop...but hey, the games played were great and the players had NO PROBLEM...SO LET THE HORNS BLOW

Banning them would be stupid, but I'm not going to lie, they're really annoying. I voted C--honestly, I doubt the players notice them. They barely blinked when it started raining, and it would have to be worse psychologically to listen to the crowd booing you or cheering for the opposite team, but we can't very well ban that.

The noise is very annoying, and I can't imagine what the players are going through having to listen to that for 90 minutes! It's annoying enough on the television, but it's festive and a part of their culture so no don't ban the horns.. Just put your television on mute - That's what I did..

I don't watch soccer so I don't know how these horns work. But from the sound of it it seems pretty loud. If I were to watch soccer I think I would want to hear the announcers being the fact I don't know much about the sport. Yes american football fans are loud but you can still hear when watching on tv.

Yea I would say don't ban them if I have ever to a game I would be pretty bummed if I couldn't get in on the tradition and blow a horn. lol

I like the vuvuzelas, it creates a wonderful atmosphere, and the players and referees themselves have given a green signal for the use of it. If the viewers don like it, mute the tv and watch it.

I think they should be banned for several reasons. The players can't hear each others and the coaches can't communicate very well with the players. The players can't sleep at night because of the noise on the streets. The noise is also dangerous to everybody in the stadium, it can cause tinnitus and such. (One reporter said she had ear-plugs the whole game but yet there was noise ringing in her ears several hours after the game). And a poll showed that 90% of the viewers in my country found the noise annoying.

Lets never again give the world cup to South Africa shall we?

The only part I agree with, is if it affects game play, official announcments and coach/player player/player communication...as far as ears ringing...eh its really too bad...they need to get better ear plugs then...

On another note, only a few players had issues sleeping....it shouldnt be that big of a deal...a consistant noise isn't bothersom...its like having a fan on in your room, its consistant...not up down up down up down...if it was high pitched them low then high then low I can see the issues...but like I said its just like a fan being on in your room...you can hear it, but its consistant enough where it shouldnt affect you sleeping...just my opinion :)

The horn is basically the African equivalant of english, spanish, and italian chants. They produce atmosphere.

Just ignore the guys complaining about it, its not just Americans either the europeans are complaining more than americans are.

Yah, for me it is just another way of expressing different cultures all through one sport.

and yes, the europeans are being babies about it. it makes me want to punch them in the face. Ronaldo was complaining the other day during one of their warm-ups, Rooney was, its horrible.

I actually like those horns because honestly I think just watching them play without the horns would make it a little dull for me until the scored lol but I like them, whoever is complaining is dumb because this is apart of the sport

It's part of South African soccer-fan culture, but it's definately not part of the sport.

I haven't noticed many people complaining about it really. It's probably a few trying to speak for the rest of us. All that noise is to cheer for their team and throw off the other team. That kind of thing happens in almost every sport.

It would definately not be the same, because it would be a lot better without them =) I prefer the noice of screaming fans when something exiting happens and fans singing songs, not a constant monotone noise for 90 minutes. It is awful.

Oh I agree with the singing and chanting and noise making...i do also agree it can be annoying, but hey no one says europeans can't over ride the noise with chants, songs, anthems, etc...i do agree they are better than the horns...but lets get real people, I mean come on lol
