I have seen some attempts at stereotyping my country, but the people who would stereotype my country also have no idea about my country at all.
So it doesn't really work out.
I'm from South Africa and I don't feel like I have been stereotyped before. Maybe my country has but I don't feel like I was as a person.
Been stereotyped because I'm Irish so people automatically assume that I drink a lot and that I'm going to bomb them. But I always find it hilarious.
ah it can get a little annoying too, mainly because I kinda do fall into that drinking stereotype :p
@ThatGuyVinny I try my best to live up to that stereotype haha
Yes. Bus driver told me that I'm thieve because I borrowed my girlfriend's ticket to go for breakfast for her...
I'm french and there a lot of stereotypes about us, but I find it's funnier more than annoying
Hairy armpits?
Omg no, it's more a Portuguese stereotype ahah
I could say that Frenchs smell bad, always eat frogs and snails, are snobbish, wear berets, are romantics or that every french city looks like Paris.
and you know what they say about french girls... 😜
Another cliché lol
I've been referred to as English even though I'm Welsh. Because of course the UK only consists of England. And they know I'm Welsh.
Last time I checked the U. K. consisted of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland... these people need to be educated!
Yes It was annoying. I am always asked if I am married because Americans assume people from my country marry early. They tend to forget girls from Alabama do not us!
Yeah most of times and you might be knowing why if you are from United States.
I'm South African so you can only imagine. It's unbelievable that even today there are still people who think that we live in the wilderness like animals.
I have been stereotyped, and they were true stereotypes, for the most part.
Yes, I have during my trips to Europe, people treated me like I was a king or something and I am not exaggerating. In some places they gave me the glare and I know how much the rest of the world dislikes us. So yeah if you are an American in a foreign country expect to experience both.
Yes but it has become the norm for me to accept people are just silly or they never been friends with someone different from them in genes, life style and beliefs
People have stereotyped me under a negative American view, when I live in Canada. Lol.
Yes lol when people meet me they just think about rice and noodles lmfao while I don't even eat those things cuz I'm on Keto diet
People think I'm angry because I'm Jamaican but I'm only angry because I have a screw loose.
well, both a and b for me. Slovakia is said to have beautiful women but there are also bad stereotypes
I'm from Canada and I've been asked if I own a polar bear. Serious question too.
I live in Canada and people think that our police wear a red uniform and a cowboy hat and ride horses. They also think we say "eh" in every sentence and drink maple syrup every second of our life.
I'm from Canada too and my American internet friend thinks it's always snowing up here lol
yeah. people think because your black that automatically makes you ignorant. it's pitiful when your white, "friends" tell you your the only non ignorant black person they know
I am from India. But I get stereotyped more for carrying a moustache. Strange that I get stereotyped as a pedophile coz of my appearance more than my country of descent.
Well everyone hates Americans. They think we are all the same, stupid
look who u voted for hahaha
Actually, he lost the popular vote. You forget that more than half of us that voted said no. It's sad af
Yes I know u have a strange electing system.
It made sense back in 1790 but now days it needs to be changed
I'm from China, but I live in America. I have been frequently asked if I eat dogs. That's what Chinese people in china do sometimes. Of course I don't.
Well people tend to think we ride kangaroos here haha
Yes. I sometimes hate being associated with America. Only because of the people.
I haven't been stereotyped and it is disappointing?
When I say where I live, people often say "baguette croissant omelette au fromage Hollande honhon"
i'm from South América and i remember when i was in Prague and everyone approached asking where i was from :) then they we're my Friends although dime people didn't knew where Chile was so i just told them i was Brazilian
Tuuuu eres Chileno? :o
yeah
Omg soo am i
I haven't been stereotyped because people don't believe I'm Dutch
im American.
no... thats all... self explanatory
yes a few times when I have said I am from the Netherlands I have been asked about smoking at the coffeeshop
Omgg do you come from the Netherlands?
@Nobodyx yes
Heyy ik ook 😂
what leuk 😂🎉
what leuk *
@Nobodyx ja altijd leuk landgenoten tegen te komen hier
klopt. Je bent trouwens de eerste die ik tegen kom hier
@Nobodyx wel ik ben niet de enige hoor
Both ways. Some stereotype me for being a nazi, while others stereotype me for being precise and always on time.
For some reason, people associate Greeks with being really prejudiced... probably because a lot of us are. LOL BUT, not all of us are!
I've been stereotyped because I'm American. They'll assume I'm stuck up and think anyone who's not American is barbaric - but it doesn't bother me.
And then people will ask why I don't look Mexican haha okay then
I am Persian and Russian. The stereotype I get is that I am physically strong because I am from Russia and Iran. Also, that I must be rich.
I'm Canadian and never been stereotyped in a negative way.
It's because we have nothing to be negative about lol
I was called out for loving cows and being terrified of water and praising dams.
Fun thing is 1/3th of it is true
Here in America we are suppose to be called land of liberals
really? that can't be a stereotype. there are to many liberal country's in the world.
a stereotype would be if we think u guys all have a overall, drive a truck, got a gun, drink bud light and don't know... love burgers.
or every high school has a cool guy wich has a girlfriend wich is cheerleader is playing football and is teasing the nerds.
and high school party's with red plastic cups.
Lol movies
Germany right?
Not really because everyone guesses my home country wrong
yes and where I live, people think we ride horses to travel and we live on farms.
I'm Asian American , but I break the stereotypes lol
Americans are thought as Cowboys that all voted for Trump. They don't see the light in some of us.
They thought I would have been a great singer, painter or chef and that I would have been a loud speaker.
They were right about the last one.
Greek?
@annikaE Almost. Italian.
I live in south africa, everyone thinks i'm black
For some reason, I remember the Mean Girls.
The joke she made was true. No pic and online? Means I've got to be black, at least I am from the waist down.
Yes, I have been stereotyped. No, it was not "awesome"
Worldwide? Nope, because most people don't know anything about my country. But I have been stereotyped in my region of Europe. I don't like it because it's just a generalization.
I've been stereotyped as proper, handsome and sophisticated because of my Englishness.
I have to say, it's all true...
😉😉😉
I have. Once I tried to talk to an attractive girl at a bar and she "corrected" my "misunderstanding" and said she wasn't a prostitute.
i lived in a third world country and therefore have fun with my friends about it
Well, they say that Spanish people are lazy and they're always partying... It's true
stereotyped for being African and being white. go look at my profile for more of the story
I can't remember any experience right now, but I probably have been. The good thing is that many people think good things about Brazilians... I guess.
yes, when I went to uruguay I had guys tell me that argentinian girls had "too much fun" and then explained they thought us slutty 😒
I'm Australian so people assume I'm really tough and have a bogan sounding accent. They're kinda right...
sorty to say that but I think it sounds like a duck
A duck? Never heard that before XD
Yes I know I shouldn't talk we Germans have a much worse accent. it sound like we would rape English
Yep. Also get stereotyped for being from the American South. Other people's ignorance is their problem, not mine.
I'm from Russia and my foreign acquaintances are being shocked because I don't drink any alcohol at all.
But you must be strong because you are russian.
Drinking that vodka
Amd fighting and being tough.
I have an Eastern European background so anywhere outside of there yes sometimes.
I am a white American male so everything has been handed to me on a silver platter. So I just work 12 hour shift in a dangerous environment to pass the time
Its disappointing when people stereotype America.
Yeah. It's annoying.
Yeah we aren't called awesome by the way
I'm Chinese American and I'm bad at math, so I tell people I'm 1/2 Polish so they'll understand.
i have been stereotyped but i find it funny as its my friends usually and we take it to the chin and don't be sensitive about it
