Ya that would be Baseball that we invented and that sport is played in many countries around the world, and what do you think that America is some tiny little Island or something, ya it's only one of the biggest countries in the world, hell some of our states are larger then some countries, so when you say soccer, I'm sorry I mean football, it's not a tiny sport but soccer on the other hand is, not many people in America like soccer in fact I find it very boring to watch. Maybe we should give your tiny sport of soccer a chance in our country, on second though na we will stick to football, it is much more entertaining.

Asker+1 yyes. you are 5% of the worlds populace. this means you are tiny in this context. the world does not play baseball. I'm surprised you haven't worked out that the world series isn't really a world series at all. did that not dawn on you at some point in your life.
Asker+1 y95% of the worlds population loves football.
5% of the world population loves american rugby/nfl.
95% is BIG.
5% IS tineeeeeeeeeeeeeeey.
no one cares what you do. you are just 5% of the worlds population.
and get that f***in bond avy of your profile ffs. its a contradiction in terms.- +1 y
You see as American's we could care less what other countries do as recreational activities, I've seen soccer and yes I think it is a great form of exercise, but here it just hasn't caught on like football has, most people think soccer is boring, just watch an American football game and then a soccer game and tell me which one is more entertaining.
- +1 y
You're supposed to say we couldn't care less. NOT we could.
Asker+1 yu f***in idiot. its not called football.
its called american football.
football is that game you play with your foot not your hands ( and 95% of the world minus dumb americans get this.) I have watched both games. one is flowing , talented and strategic. the other awards points like candy + involved a group of obese men sniffing each others lycra shorts + throwing a ball between commercials. no one cares what you think. you are just 5% of the world. planet earth thinks your crap. idiot.
Asker+1 yyou stupid native... ITS CALLED FOOTBALL NOT SOCCER! the whole world knows this. are youuuuu slooowwwwww. do you understand englishhhhhh? foot ball. it a ball you kick with your foot. american football...its a ball you throw with your hands...your little game is very cute native. and your culture is quite interesting, but really, you're cute lickle game is called a-m-e-r-c-a-n-f-o-o-t-b-a-l-l- and its based on rugby. 95% of the world > 5% of the world. aww cute little indigenous tribes.
- +1 y
Are you drunk or just a dumb ass, of course I speak English, I live in America we speak English, that is our primary language you dumb ass. Why don't you learn some history before you insult a country that you know nothing about. Like I said America is one of the biggest countries in the world, we have states that are bigger than some countries, we are not a third world sh*t country.
Asker+1 yno you speak A-m-e-r-i-c-a-n- e-n-g-l-i-s-h- native. a bastardised version of English. and you play a bastardised version of rugby. and you call it football. and you are tiny. 5% of the world population. and the other 95% play football and cals it football. cos its a game where you kick a ball with your foot.
your little native game is cute if a bit stop/start. but its not called football. its just a form of rugby son.
Asker+1 ynow get back up that tree before the angry rain god comes and hurricane floods your 3 rd world cities, or maybe we should reflect on the third world infant mortality rates.. or the obesity rates...or the lack of health care...or illiteracy rates...or lack of gun control? native you will lose this argument. you are 5 % of the world. and your game was invented way later and is dwarfed 20 times by football. you are just an american troll. but you are wrong. + you are lost mate. tiny games don't count.
- +1 y
What the hell are you talking about, damn put down the booze, my American house is bigger then your house and it probably cost less, this is the land of the free, people here have rights if everyone hated America then why the hell is everyone trying to get into America? It's called football, because the ball is a called a football, you kick it and your throw it dip sh*t, once again learn some history or crawl back in your hole and do us all a favor and die, and the world would be a better place.
Asker+1 ywhat you have demonstrated is your education system is sh*t, your socialization is is under developed and frankly id imagine you live in a trailer. your house is not bigger than mine (unlikely anyways) and unlike you my house really is my house and not my mommas. as for the fact you are 5% of the worlds population taking 25% of its oil, I think the world would favour your demise over mine fatso. oh...and your sport is tiny. get over yourself. it is not football, its american rugby. burn.
Asker+1 yps the world does not revolve around america. you're really just a failed ex colony about to taken over by china. in terms of sport, the world don't give a sh*t. in terms of culture, you lost your was a long long time ago. land of the free? lmao, nothings free in america, not the ppl, and certainly not the healthcare. as for the jobs market, you have savage unemployment figures. I think you are in reality the one who is living in a little hole. the world is a big place. get back in your trailer hick
Asker+1 yyup go play american rugby or something. football with your hands lol. whatever next/ .

+1 yWell every down in american football can mean the end of the game. Most football(soccer) games can go on and on and end 0-0 or 1-0. Every second of American football can be an instant comeback/victory (Interception or a trick play). It IS true that football(soccer) players are the most all around fit athletes but the american football athletes are very specialized for their positions. Everybody has a different preference it just depends on what you like and what you were exposed to. It is gaining popularity as well there have been sold out games in England which have been very successful for instance.

Asker+1 yyoure just being silly there.
the goals are more important in football.
and stop calling it soccer. this is the www. you are incorrect to call it that when the regional sport is american football.
no its lost popularity. there used to be a superleague in europe. its dead now.
hows MLS doing?
ps american football is too stop start.- +1 y
Like I said it it all comes down to preference we could argue all day but we wouldn't change eachother's minds. The NFL does do 1 or 2 games in England every year in they are always sold out. My problem with football is that even though it's not stop/start how often does the constant movement contribute to anything? Somebody can get a goal right away and the other team doesn't have a chance to come back. Also I don't like how the players always trip and fall and try to draw a card or w/e
Asker+1 yha ha yes. 95% of the planet prefers football not american football. :P
preference indeed.
you are not seeing it in depth. its a constant push between
defence /midfield /attack v attack/midfield/defence
then there are the flanks
the long ball
playing defensive
counter attacks
passing football
possession and product
dude its fascinating
if you don't get it then I don't really get you
the depths are endless.- +1 y
I recognize that football is more popular I'm not disputing that fact I don't know why you are getting so butt hurt over it. I'm just telling you why american football is more popular in the U.S.A. we tend to go more for instant gratification and high scoring games I'm not putting football down at all I'm just giving another point of view. No need to get defensive I know the statistics and my sister is on her way to playing football on America's National Team so I respect it.
no way dude! Soccer (sorry football lol) its THE worldwide sport. American football (which I don't know even know why they even named it that since it makes no f***ing sense lol) its only watched by us

Well I think it's the best when you're with a bunch of people and everyone's watching every play and having a good time, like during the Super Bowl. American football is our main sport, so people get really pumped up about it. It's also interesting to see what strategies teams employ and it's exciting to to see someone make a really amazing touchdown. At our high school's game a couple weeks ago, this kid made a miraculous catch and out-maneuvered the other team completely, the crowd went wild!

you are right about one thing tho. apparantly americans didn't really invent american football, its just a perverse form of rugby apparantly.- +1 y
Oh, I know the world plays soccer. Read what I wrote. I said, "we're" like nah. I was pretty specific in noting that we, America, really just doesn't give a sh*t. We'll do what we want, whether the world does it or not. Kinda like when we revolted against the UK and said F you guys. " link "
Don't get confused, much of what happens in America, I don't agree with. I don't believe that we're the ultimate super power and crap like that. - +1 y
As a matter of fact, during the Olympics I tend to go for other countries. I think America should be disqualified since we're just a mix of races and everything from all the other countries that participate.
On the flip side, whether or not A.Football is a variation of rugby or not, its still its own sport that we invented. You can take chicken and add your own dam sauce, and its still your own dam recipe whether you discovered chicken or not. Calm down bro, we don't hate you.
Asker+1 ygood answer and no hate. america is quite an insular country given its position on the world stage. its sports are super hyped and attractive, but tiny compared to football. like really tiny. basketball does translate well tho. it is mainly a ''black'' sport in the uk but in parts of europe and eastern europe it is very popular all round.
- +1 y
Me personally... I just like teams. Don't care for specific sports. The only sport that I can actually respect... is one of the few sports I get bored watching, and that's baseball. Simply put, baseball doesn't rely on the build of the athlete to be great. You don't have to be tall, muscular, skinny, fast, or any type of stereotype, unlike basketball and soccer (which requires a lot of leg endurance and finesse) as well as A. Football and hockey.
Asker+1 yfootball doesn't need genetics past fitness. and obviously latent skill and technique. the talent pool is truly huge.
as for baseball, I'm interested to an extent, but I hate cricket and it seems like the spectacle of baseball could be a boring one.
watching football is all about tension. its exciting in the same way a boxing match or a fight is. baseball is more of a ''turns'' game. I would like to get into it as its better looking than cricket. but cricket has bored me to death at times meh.
Asker+1 yim (genuinely) interested in the spectacle of baseball and why it is attractive. what is the viewer investment / pay off. how does the experience of watching a game ebb and flow. what are the high points and the low. cricket bores the sh*t out of me and that is why I avoid baseball.
- +1 y
When it comes to baseball, I think you have to go in with the intention of pulling for a certain team. Its a fan-based sport. It is kinda exciting (and it implies to any sport) to see things happen as your team is winning or even losing while making a comeback. Baseball focuses on individuals a little more than team work (while team work is still essential), but takes away stereotypes of what it takes to be a good baseball player. Still bores me though.
Asker+1 yamericans are obsesses with baseball.
what is the attraction. why is it such an iconic american sport. explain that to me.- +1 y
Because it was "The American Sport." Just like all other countries are fascinated with their own "inventions." Baseball is also one of the few "Sports" that I think doesn't matter on your body build. As one person said, "You can be fat and be great like Babe Ruth, skinny like Frank Robeson, Short like Joe Morgan, Tall like Randy Johnson, heck, baseball even had two guys that had one arm." Again, I think its just a team based fascination, where anyone of any body type has potential.
Asker+1 yi will give baseball a chance.. looks interesting.

Americans suck at football (or as americans call it, soccer) so they made a rip-off version of rugby, and called it American Football. Baseball ain't an American original either, it's a rip-off from another English invention, cricket, which was played by the Brits in 1500's (and still being played in England and former colonies of the Empire). But I gotta hand it to the Americans for contributing to the world by inventing basketball. But anyway, about american football, nah, it looks pretty boring anyway, it doesn't come anywhere close to 'the real football', in terms of excitement, popularity and simplicity.

Asker+1 ythis is a good answer. baseball comes from rounders tho and few realize football was tied in with different rules at the time of rugbys code being developed and american footballs subsequent development. football has existed for melinium in different forms, however the development of the games we love occured in the mid to late 1800s. I agree with basketball being a true american sport, one of the few I may add. I disagree americans are bad at football. they have represented well in most WCs

No it won't, just because it requires less equipment and it is a sport that pretty much everybody can play. American Football on the other hand is highly specialized, you need to have these standards of weight, strength and so on. Plus football doesn't require much agility and if you have seen futsal games and competitions of skills with the ball you will know, it requires substantial agility to do all of those tricks with the ball.

Its kinda like saying why isn't soccer big in America. The one thing I dislike about soccer (football) would be the fact that grown men fake falling down from the slightest of contact, then grasp a portion of their body as if it had been blown away. I watch theatrical plays when I want to see acting, not a sport. Than the player will get up seemingly unhurt and ready to shoot their free kick.014 Reply

Why do you say American Rugby? Are you talking about Rugby or the NFL Football. In 1921 the new professional league adopts the name "National Football League". it isn't called American Rugby. The problem is poor countries can't even afford the equipment for the NFL. Its obvious it won't be popular with poor people and without the safety equipment you could die. The sport is very violent and dangerous. It is because of the frequent skull fractures, which resulted in the safety equipment.
Asker+1 yyes an fifa is called football as is football association. you do not play football you play american rugby and call it american football. it is one little code of rugby...it is not football. do you understand this native? do you understand the world is bigger than your little country and your cute little game. u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d the english? now go worship a tree or something you f***in throwback.

Outside the United States, the sport is referred to as "American football" or "Gridiron football". Stop calling it American Rugby. Gridiron (American football) is a derivative of rugby football and rugby football came from association football.
Asker+1 yby who? it quite clearly is american rugby and as no one seems to recognise the term soccer and yet it gets used by ameritards, lets be real. they are playing an american version of rugby. american rugby.
- +1 y
The rules are different. Rugby football is derived from football association but its a different sport. American Football (Gridiron) is derived from Rugby football but is still considered a different sport. The rules in American Football are different than Rugby football. You can't say the sports are the same. Its obvious that your anti American and extremely jealous of Americans.
Asker+1 ynope. I'm willing to give this little rugby type game of yours a try (no pun). it looks a bit stop/ start tho. I know american football is a localised, small obscure sport and like aussie rules , there snot many outside of its home nation that are interested, but I've seen a few films and I'm willing to give it a go. frankly there are a lot of americans that think they are the centre of the earth and that their sport is ''football'' and is the biggest sport on earth. reality check. its not.

I'm not American, I've lived here for a short time recently because of my father's job, so I really don't give two sh*ts whether or not their sports are played else where. I just know from my travels that they do have homes outside of this country. Also they're not children, they may act like children sometimes but there's not need to treat them condescendingly. And if that was not your intention then you need to go back and learn how to use Rhetoric properly. And that was the only real problem I
- +1 y
had. To be honest I couldn't care less about sports. It was your tone, your demeanor that bothered me. So, even if you think yourself superior, or your nation superior at least try and sound respectful and polite.
Asker+1 yand now you are ignorantly assuming and prejudging the tone of someone from a different culture who youve never met, whilst using curse words and name calling.
i do not know your story, but I fear you are slightly bigotted and in need of further education.
i suggest theory of knowledge and maybe some debating classes.
Asker+1 yit is very misguided to expect someone from another place to fit into the tiny cultural back water you find yourself in. there are lots of fish out there and they do not all swim in your pond. the internet is a broad ocean, its silly to look upon it like you would your little niche on the map. may I remind you that you are not even speaking your language, but a bastardised version of ours. have a nice night tho. I like dr doolittle, the interactive version has been fun. :)
- +1 y
I'm not, I'm using your word choice, both in the phrasing of the question and the phrasing of the poll options to assess rhetoric. You should always be aware of how your tone comes off to others and your tone is very condescending. Calling the nation an 'acorn' they're babies, children that, with nurturing from the older, wiser nations, can grow. It's 'nice' that America invented a sport. The word choice makes it sound as though you're speaking down upon them. Not to mention the last sentence
- +1 y
"we should encourage Americans by giving their little sport a try"
WE, every one else is in this little grown ups club watching America bobble around like a infant, outside of the all wise, all powerful group. "giving their little sport a try" Oh look at this cute thing that they came up with. We should show positive re-inforcement by trying it out, show them their on the right track. It's not the way you may have intended it, but that's the way your word choice leads it to be interpreted.
Asker+1 yyou sound like you got issues.
stop being so controlling, when you are older you will realize you do not own the internet and people will not do what you say on it.
i called your sport little which it is.
in this context your country at 5% of the worlds populace is very small.
and they are relatively new sports.
maybe we should give them a try.
- +1 y
I don't mind whether or not they get a try. I'm just informing you to keep an eye on your rhetoric, or else offend people. Just a cautionary thing. That's the first lesson they teach you when you get to graduate school. And it'd be a good lesson for you to learn.
Asker+1 yas for the rest of what you said, you are trying to impose internal structures on people outside of your understanding. this is ignorant and tbh probably symptomatic of some underlying emotional/ sexually fridgidity. I don't know you, but you seem quite the control freak and a latent ignoramus. I imagine someone really hurt you, but it wasn't me and I hope things get better for you soon. :)
Asker+1 yyou are not a moderator and the only infringment on the rules I can see is your use of the words jack ass and troll.. you would be best advised to watch your own words, as it seems you are the one who has the issues with the rules of this website.

No, I'm just an English and Political Science graduate who has spent seven years analyzing, writing and listening to speeches and I'm just letting you know how you come off. I'm not controlling you and I've gotten over the first instinctual bit of anger I felt at some one acting what I saw as mean. And I'm just letting you know how you could come off to others. Very proud and arrogant. As for now, I'm done arguing because I've given up caring, and I've said my peace. So do have a lovely night.

@QA Why are you mentioning rugby?
- +1 y
@QA Soccer isn't a new sport. The European football in America is called Soccer.
Asker+1 ywhat is soccer? I've never heard of this ''soccer''. who invented it? who plays it? what is it called by 95% of the planet.
do me a favour...write football in 95 point type. then write american football (american rugby) next to it in 5 point point. when you have done that get back to me.
Asker+1 ycongrats. you found american websites that use the word soccer to describe football and football to describe american football. yes 5% of the worlds populace uses the wrong word to describe the worlds most popular game, while mistakingly using its name to describe their tiny little 5% 'er sport. this is why you are thought of as retarded. football ...95% of the world. american football 5%. one is called football and the other is called american football + really should be called american rugby.
- +1 y
I use the word football to describe soccer because the majority of people outside the US don't say soccer. And I'm assuming you're not in the US. I'm sure most people understand the difference between a person saying American Football and European Football(soccer). I don't understand why your saying I'm retarded. I'm not the reason US Americans don't call football "rugby" and use "soccer" to describe the world's most popular sport.
Asker+1 yits not called soccer man. its called football. no one gives a sh*t what the outer mongolians call it and no one gives a sh*t what the americans call it. this is the internet and the correct term is based on the popularity of the game world wide. not some dumb little native code of it in one of the ex colonies. therefore the correct term is soccer. as for the american rugby comment ...that is what it is, where it came from and what it actually is man. there is no european football just football.
Asker+1 y*the correct term is football..damn you even confusing me now with your mumbo jumbo.
No. But hand egg is pretty good to watch for a change if you have a spare 4 hours.
