Like do they eat very little and work out or is it their fast metabolism?
How are Asians so skinny?
Like do they eat very little and work out or is it their fast metabolism?
That's because the rice at an Asian table serves a specific purpose.
Most people who aren't knowledgeable about Asian cuisine don't understand the role of rice in typical Asian cuisine.
They think that Asian people think rice tastes good.
Or they think that Asians consider the rice as an additional dish.
It's neither of those things.
In general, Asians eat rice because:
(1) It acts as a completely neutral buffer. It is supposed to have no or very little taste. This creates a great balance when eating, as you'll get sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and umami from the actual dishes, while the neutral taste of rice provides balance to the 5 flavors.
This is why you'll very rarely see people eating Fried Rice with other dishes in a meal. Fried rice is a snack - and doesn't serve the same purpose as plain white/brown rice in a meal.
Balance in food is a very important concept in most Asian cuisines. There is balance in taste, balance in flavor, balance in yin and yang. It's too intricate a concept to fit in one paragraph.
(2) Any nutritionist who specializes in Asian cuisine will tell you: you can slim down eating AUTHENTIC Asian cuisine (not to be confused with American-Asian cuisine). But your plan to slim down will be more likely to fail if you exclude all rice from your diet plan.
Rice provides the feeling of satiety after a meal.
When some people say "Oh, I get hungry after 30 minutes of eating a Chinese meal (usually American-Chinese)" - you know why that is?
Because they skipped the rice.
Eating a small amount of rice at each meal provides you with a feeling of fullness after the meal. It means you won't get hungry so soon.
Have you ever wondered why Asian desserts aren't very popular or famous? Why Asian cuisine isn't known for its desserts?
Because Asians eat rice.
When you eat rice and you eat a meal that well-balanced in terms of tastes, flavors, yin-yang, heatiness-coolness - you don't even have the urge to eat dessert. Because you've eaten a complete, well-balanced meal.
Of course, some Asians go overboard on the rice or noodles.
If you eat a huge bowl of rice or noodles at every meal, yes, you will more likely than not gain the pounds.
But in a normal, traditional Asian meal, the rice comes in a small bowl - and the amount is actually smaller than what most people imagine.
@Alyssa_K Yes. Asians are humans too. There are LOTS of foods in the Asian diet that will add on the pounds if you go overboard. Noodles, steamed buns, Asian-style pastries. Like you said, it's all about moderation and keeping the portions small. Someone scarfing down ten steamed buns for breakfast every day is going to gain weight, whether she's Asian or not.
I think sometimes people have faster metabolism than others
Yes some cultures may have set rules where your not allowed
to be overweight. t's also got to do with genes , like myself
i come from a family where people are big boned and overweight
very few of them were skinny people. Also we have poor
metabolisms where no matter how much we diet the weight stays
on or fluctuates from time to time.
My family does too
I'm technically the skinniest one but I'm not as skinny as I want to be and if I don't take care of myself I'll be like that too
You look good with your weight and that is awesome
you want watch your weight i can understand where
your coming from.
Thank u
You're Welcome :)
My theory is that they are more diverse in their food choices. For example - most people say if you are on a low carb diet like me - you should eat lettuce and blue berries but one is too low to make a difference and the other is too sweet. A better low carb food is water melon seeds - you can buy three weeks worth from a Chinese grocery store for $2.50. The fact white people don't eat this food - is one of the reasons white people have to rely on other low carb foods. Also kimchi and edamame and broad beans - very common foods in the Chinese diet - are ignored by non-Chinese people who eat other foods like burgers, fries and steak. If I were to eat the way white people did - I would probably weigh 400 pounds - but I don't eat steak and fries on a regular basis. My regular meals consists of eggs or egg plant (very common in the Chinese diet) or green peas or home made tomato and cabbage soup. Because Chinese people have a more diverse range of foods to choose from - they are able to make healthier choices. Also when Chinese people want flavour - they will use salt or vinegar - instead of olive oil or fatty cheese.
Because itās the culture. Asians in the US arenāt always skinny, in fact I was pretty chunky last year. I was a bit over 140 lbs because I stopped caring about what I was eating, but now Iām back to 110 lbs. :)
Culture and life style, we tend to eat less meat and high calorie food. Metabolism also part of the reason but when I start eating a lot of American food I still gain weight.

Genetics and not all Asians are skinny a lot of Chinese and Korean are quite chubby. Korean are on average bigger than French people for example.
In China they have a big problem with obesity nowadays.
I am Indian Asian.. not sure if that counts.. but i guess. its genes.. and the active games. Like i have been a badminton player and a runner since 6th grade..

Your welcome
Only Asians who eat traditional meals (rice, vegetable lean meats) there are plenty of fast americanized Asians out there who have embraced the standard American diet. That and Asians generally work hard labor especially in foreign countries
Fat*
its to do with there genes in there part of the world where l stay in the uk/Scotland there is lots of fat Asians they were born here in the west you can goole what you are asking and you will find a lot of stuff
i'd say our genes. i've always been fairly skinny even tho i consume rice on the daily. however, it's also important to note that when i was living in south korea, most of my friends were constantly on restrictive diets bc being skinny is seen as pretty important to being beautiful in our culture. so it could be a mixture of genes and constant dieting. not all Asians are skinny tho just to clarify
Asians tend to have very fast metabolisms and their diet is also usually nutritious and healthy.
My metabolism is retarded fast. The Asian side of my family is tiny and we all can eat 😂
Genetics. Also i know a ton of fat Asian girls because they grew up in the states.
So its the portion control and using chopsticks
A lot of someone's size has to do with their genes. Different people can eat and exercise the same amount and get different results.
Genetics but being skinny is not a bad thing.. Adversely, it's pretty cute I would honestly say..
I like their white skin :)
Pretty they have very low sugary stuff there, also also, its just the culture that is like that. In some parts you're even not allowed to be fat lol
Not all Asians are skinny :D
All Asians aren't skinny its more dependent on genes
I think itās genes. And I donthey they tend to eat better then most.
There are fat Asians but they eat less/dont eat as much fastfood/sugar as westerners in general
Smaller skeleton, their diet, and their culture do not support fat people.
All Asians arenāt skinny.
Usually itās the diet, and metabolism
