I'm very much opposed to routine infant circumcision. Removing healthy, functional erogenous tissue and permanently altering the sexual function of a minor who cannot possibly consent is ethically wrong and morally gross. If an adult choses to get circumcised after being fully informed about the procedures and it's consequences that's up to him. A man can always easily get circumcised later in life, often with better results, but it is impossible to fully undo a circumcision if a man wishes he were intact.
I was cut at birth but have since restored my foreskin. While my restored foreskin is much better than being circumcised, I'm still missing the nerve endings, the riged band, and a functional frenulum, and it took me years to get to where I am.
I have a 2 year old son, who has his whole penis, foreskin and all, and we haven't had a single issue with it. I'm glad to break the cycle of circumcision in our family, and hope it's part of a larger trend towards ending the practice of routine infant circumcision.
Most Helpful Opinions
It is a controversial topic.
Infants:
Well, it is the parent's decision. Legally and medically they are responsible for their child. They have their reasons for going one way or the other. When in doubt, leave it for later.
Puberty:
The person is now old enough to understand what it is. That person will be highly influenced by the prevailing culture. The information will be highly biased. Personally I think this would be the best age to circumcise as a rite of passage into adulthood.
Adulthood:
Full knowledge is available, including going above the prevailing culture. Freedom of choice now exists.
Personal preference:
I think that the exposed glans is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Also, it feels and looks more hygienic.
Personal status:
Gray area. Technically, I still have my foreskin. Practically, I simulate being circumcised by keeping the foreskin retracted at all times. Hence, I simulate the circumcised look and feel on my penis.
Would I get circumcised:
If I am guaranteed perfect post-surgery care, then yes. I would want to get the 'low and loose' style. http://www.circlist.com/styles/page1.html
I'm completely against it. I didn't circumcise either of my boys.
When I have babies I dont think I will have them circumcised

Except for the rare cases where there's a legitimate medical reason for it, I consider it to be genital mutilation. I'm strongly against routine infant circumcision where the body integrity of the baby is disrespected and a permanent change is made to his body without his consent (which he obviously cannot give). I would never do that to my son if I ever have one.
I was cut at birth but I wish my penis was intact.Being cut there isn’t any much to say to the contrary. I will say the one reason that I do like it is when I move her cervix out of the way I can feel the flare on my glans go over her bump and I love that sensation and she does too. I don’t think I could feel that with a foreskin over it.
I don't know whether or not it's beneficial in terms of health or anything, so I can't really say anything about that.
Assuming it's not though, I think it should be a person's personal choice and they should decide it for themselves when they become old enough, although I think it may be mandatory or highly recommended in certain religions.
Some say it's more beneficial/pleasurable sexually, but as a virgin who was done as a baby, I honestly wouldn't know and can't compare.Yeah nah, it's there for a reason. It shouldn't be legal until you are 18 unless you have a medical condition. That's my opinion.
I hate it. I was circumcised and the result on sex has been pretty much devastating for me.
I wished I was given the option, but given the option, I still would have chosen to be circumcised.
A pointless procedure. There’s no need to mutilate an infants genitals just because it “looks better. and the claims that its more hygienic is false.
imagine if we gave baby girls labiaplasty 🥴You have legs for walking, ear for hearing and mouth for speaking and eating. Every part of human body has is own purpose
I’m greatful to be circumsized. And no mother should have to scrub under her baby son’s foreskin just so he doesn’t get an infection. It’s just cleaner to lose. 🤢
I like it. I lived with it all my life and have been clean and never had to worry about it ever getting dirty or getting infections.
I think it needs to stop. If it was meant to be that way, then we would be born that way. It's just mutilating a baby.
I can't imagine the hassle of not being circumcised I like what I have I don't know
I guess I would want the if the woman I was with wanted so I guess that would be a deal-breaker huh...Circumcision should only be done if it is medically necessary.
I'm not entirely sure what's the point of being circumcised?
Besides it being tied with religious beliefs I'm not sure if there's any other reason or benefit of getting a circumcision. If I have a son, nobody is cutting anything off his penis. He can make the decision when he's older.
Two words: Genital Mutilation. I think it's disgusting.
Yeah definitely not for me and would not do that at all to my child
It’s mandatory in my religion for males and i really dont have an opinion about it
I am for circumcision, but I'm glad that the procedure was done to me as a baby. I can't imagine having it done now!
Circumcising children is barbaric child abuse. Adults should have the right to mutilate themselves if they want.
