Working out does nothing.
I’m just up and tired. Then around 6 I’m ready to sleep when I have to get up for work soon.
I've never found a sure fire answer.
Just ones that seem to hit and miss.
About a year ago, my wife got me some herbal tea that has a better track record than anything else I've tried.
It's called "get some zzz's", from BE WELL TEA, Larkspur, CA.
She gets it locally from Fresh Thyme Market, but it's available on Amazon, also.
The directions call for one tea pouch to 6 oz. of water, but I use two or sometimes three pouches.
It actually tastes pretty good to me, and I usually don't care for herbal teas.
It contains rooibos leaf, orange peel, spearmint leaf, chamomile flower, passionflower, and stevia leaf.
My wife also got me an electric 1 cup hot water dispenser that heats a cup of water to boiling in about 30 seconds, so I don't have to stand at the stove heating up a tea kettle for ten minutes, or however long it takes. It feels like forever to me.
The water dispenser was maybe 20 bucks.
It doesn't take up much counter space, either.
I let the pouches steep for about 7 minutes, add a couple of ice cubes to quickly get it cool enough to drink, toss it down the hatch, and..., sometimes it knocks me right out, sometimes not so much, but like I said, it's got the best track record for me so far.
I'll take any successes that I can.
I've had screwed up sleep my entire life, and have severe Restless Leg Syndrome in addition to the insomnia, so I feel your pain.
I wish you the best.
I'm the same way often and I just "deal" with it lol. Nothing really works for me either. Sleeping pills help me get to sleep, but I don't like how I feel the next day. I don't know the name of it off the top of my head, but I found a "natural" sleep aid for Insomnia at my local health food store. Just a chewable tablet. Sometimes it helps calm me enough to sleep, other times it does nothing at all so? lol I've never tried Melatonin directly because I hear it can be dangerous if you take too much, which is easy to do apparently so I've avoided it.
I fall asleep better on the couch than in bed honestly but I wake up a lot.
Personally, i had to stop taking melatonin for awhile because i was taking 100mg at a time to fall asleep. I would walk around my neighborhood for HOURS normally it would be a 10+ mile walk. Masturbation & sex helps as well. My mom had insomnia as well & is proscribed some very powerful sleep aides & she gives me a few here & there, i only have to take a half some days.
I don’t fall asleep after sex and I have that often. I may look into a small prescription of medication because I’m tired but up
Melatonin does NOTHING for me either and I’ve never met anybody who’s said it works for them, I take trazodone and it works that works for me.
That May conflict with my antidepressant
Trazodone is okay with most anti depressesants, I would be very surprised if it conflicted with it.

I have the opposite problem. Hereditarily, I tend to fall asleep easily.
Those with problems sleeping can try the following:
1. Have a dark room- get room-darkening lined drapes, or a blindfold.
2. Have a quiet room.
3. Nothing with caffeine at least 4-5 hours before bedtime.
4. If you need a late snack, stick to a few simple carbs: save the protein for earlier in the day.
5. Try to go to sleep at the same time each night, and wake up at the same time each morning.
6. Use a "white noise" generator of some sort, machine or app.
7. Turn the temp down at night. Your brain goes into sleep mode more easily when it cools down a few degrees.
8. I would suggest seeing the doc for a dosage on the melatonin, but at 50 mg, you are already at 10x a decent-sized dose.
9. Create rhythmic images in your mind. I like the waves coming into shore, and then carrying my cares back out to sea.
I feel your pain sis. I rely on meds stronger than melatonin and that shit dont work on me either. I was working a morning shift job like you and boy did that not help out. I had to get a night shift job because my mood was unstable and today I'm above 250 lbs thanks to that.
but they say that if you take melatonin at the time you want to fall sleep everyday even if it doesn't work it should reboot your sleep cycle. also never take melatonin in the morning especially at sunrise because that will make your insomnia 1000X worst
My issue is that my brain doesn't want to shut down. I as I'm writing this comment, I am on leave (holiday from work). On Sunday, I have a shift which ends Monday morning. I am staying up until the 6am and I am training my body to sleep during the day. Blindfold is a huge help, so I use that to prevent light from waking me up.
I have a really bad sleep pattern due in part to history of night mares / terrors or whatever you want to call waking up screaming lol.
As I don’t want to go on drugs I’ve used a few techniques from no tv or electronic. Devices 2 hours before bed.
then a mental thing of emptying my mind, going rounds checking the rooms in the house in my mind, then with each door dropping further towards sleep.
trying to clear your mind is personally the best route.
I use headspace and i play sleepcast, it has an breathing exercises help to fall sleep and relax the mind. I fall sleep in 5 to 10 minutes , I use to take 1 hour or more. if you use a lot the computer you should install f. lux, The program is designed to reduce eye strain during night-time use, helping to reduce disruption of sleep patterns. now I sleep a lot better
My advice I recommend ask your General Practioner / Family Doctor to put you on Seroquel there is a brand for other countries but this is the only medication that helps
me to sleep at night the generic name is Quetiapine and it's the only medication that helps me sleep like a baby also If I was planning to have a hot night with a chick I would not take it LMBO
Sometimes its not insomnia. You're up for a reason. Try to get things done when you can't sleep, like get outta bed, watch tv, read a book, cook or do some maths or maybe write down some to-do list. These things engage the brain and then before you know it your brain releases the sleep toxins required for you to get tired, which finaly results into sleep. So stop fighting it
I've been up watching Netflix I use to stay up and catch up on work but that’s not really healthy
You look super sexy healthy to me. Don't just get too bothered about sleep
I'm no doctor but if you aren't sleeping properly WITH medication, why not ask your doctor about coming off of it and trying other ways?
It isn't like you can't go back on it if you absolutely have to.
Work out when I wake up and after work, after dinner i can barely move. Use as much energy as possible. If I have a rest day I can't sleep so i have to workout every day to some degree
Get out more during the day go for a walk get fresh air into your lungs into your brain into your bloodstream you will fall right to sleep
I started working out longer and I did fall asleep better then it stopped
Literally drinking before bed helps. It's what I'm doing atm.
Drinking alcohol? I’d rather not that’s not ideal for me
I stay up a little later and try to relax an hour od so before bedtime. sleep in a dark room and make sure I pee before I go to sleep.
I literally relax after 7pm but I’m still up it sucks
Ask your doctor for a prescription for sonata, generic name, Zaleplon. It's a non-narcotic, somatic sleep aid. Clears your body in 4 hours, no hangovers.
Will I get tired during the Day? I need to be alert for work.
Read my answer. It clears your body in 4 hours. It's not a narcotic. Talk to your doctor about it.
I usually browse the internet until I get sleepy. I don't think it works though 😟
@exitseven yeah I'm sure that's true. I'll try to figure something else out, something like reading a book right before I go to sleep. I tried that last night and it seemed to help a little.
No caffeine after 5 work for me don’t eat before bed I learn that to. And melatonin. Room has to be pitch black.
My boyfriend doesn’t like the full light off and I think that isn’t helping me either. I don’t drink caffeine so I don’t have that issue…. hmm I do like to snack at night. Melatonin doesn’t work for me
Listen to soothing music, take a bath or take a small walk
None of that works I’ve tried:/
Change your enviroment. Your situation is stressing you out. Eat B12.
:o you got what I got then. I be up until 5 or 6 almost every day too
Masturbate I heard that makes you sleepy
I have sex. Still up
SEx lots and lots of sex lol
I do still up
