Can you safely lose 10 pounds a month?

I'm 230 lbs and am 5ft1 I'm very obese. I wanna lose 120 pounds. Is this achievable in a year?

If I wanted to lose that much in a year, I'd make some major changes in diet & exercise. I'd go into a minor caloric deficit while doing other things like intermittent fasting & doing more steady state cardio. And since I'd be losing weight, I know that I'd need more protein than if I were trying to gain muscle, so I'd prioritize it in almost every meal & snack. I'd preferably lose the weight slowly (2lbs) a week so that my body can adjust to it & eventually change my "genetic set point" to a lower place that is sustainable. And I'd want to be doing some strength training on the side as well so that the extra muscle mass can help speed up my metabolism.

But ofc I'd start slowly with all of that. So slow at first that it doesn't feel like work.

I support you to lose weight slow and healthy, Right now I weigh 263 and I use to weigh 372 and it's a rough road my friend and yes 10 lbs a month is good, drink lots of water, eat lots of veggies, Never let anyone bully you cause I would have to beat their ass I was overweight in Middle and High School, I went through physical pain and mental pain due to me being overweight and I lost a lot of weight all Summer of 85, I went from 178 lbs down to 160 lbs then after graduation is when I went up to 200 + and over 350 + in my 30's is when I weighed more.

Oh yeah that is more than achievable. It will all depend on the dedication. My friend was 290 pounds and he lost 55 pounds in 10 weeks.

I usually think 2 pounds a week is enough so yeah, close enough.

Yes, but it's extremely difficult. Like 6 hours of exercise a day and eating nothing but kale and spinach with water. Something insane like that, I dunno.

Yes you can eat less than you currently do and exercise more just get a sweat going for 30 minutes a day and drink water

Yes keep track what you eat. Eat 5 small meals a day. Workout 5 days a week. What helped me I joined a class help keep going.

I think that's actually a safe way to go about it. But get a doctors opinion first.
