Why is my miniature schnauzer so smelly?!

okay, my dog is 8 years old now, he's been nuetered, and we bathe him regularly. He gets his haircuts regularly as well. And I know this is absolutely disgusting but, he's leaks out this liquid poop that smells absolutely horrible. But that's not why he stinks. When we pet him, his odor is on our hands. . It's horrible! HELP! What's wrong with my dog?!

It's his diet... I switched my dogs to raw food and It cured all their problems (bad breath, diarrhea/what you described, and even a tumor the size of a golf ball on one of my dogs!). If you want some brand names of raw dog food I can find some for you.. (one I tried was called Primal, It can be found at Pet Food Express in the freezer) but now I just buy raw meat at the store and add in some veggies, also grow some grass and let him eat it, it settles their stomach, I'm not sure what types of grass, I just have some grass that grows randomly in my backyard that they eat (not the lawn grass.. they don't like that... ) any ways good luck:)

The liquid coming from your miniature schnauzer is a natural secretion from the anal glands that helps ease out bowl movements. Sometimes the anal glands become compacted and sometimes they become over active. Your best bet is to take your baby to the vet. Don't bathe him/her more than once every two weeks. You can use baby wipes (the sensitive kinds) to clean up the potty trail area.

Idk about the smell, but I think the liquid you described could be "anal juice", as my friend calls it. She has small dogs and they "leak" from time to time, especially when they are anxious, like in the car. Just google dog "anal juice" and see what you get. Lol yeah, sounds weird, but it is kinda weird.

It might have some kind of GI tract problem, like Crohn's disease or something. The reason your hands stink after you pet him is because he licks his ass and then licks his fur.

Definitely the diet. Also, don't bathe him too frequently because it could dry out his skin and cause bacterial infection or other skin conditions. You're only supposed to bathe them once every 3 weeks or 2 weeks depending on his activity level. If he's leaking out poop that is diarrhea and you need to get him to the veterinarian for further check up. Diarrhea can be caused by a variety of things from a bad diet to a fatal disease. Please don't try to give him any home remedies or attempt to give him things based off of what you read on the internet. Go to the vet!

OMG.

My family has mini schnauzers! :D Never "met" anyone else who did.

Excitement aside, my grandma's mini schnauzer is perpetually smelly too. There's nothing you can do except spray him with pet deoderant or get his hair clipped even shorter.
