I was a hardcore soda drinker in college, like 3 full 20 oz bottles a day. In support of a friend who was Catholic, I gave it up for Lent, and noticed I had major withdrawals. I was angry, I had headaches, I felt shaky, it was awful, but after 2 weeks of the 40 days I started to feel a lot better. Unfortunately after 40 days I went right back to it. Cut to a couple of years later, again for Lent with the same friend, I gave it up, and it's now been 6 years. Unfortunately, or lets say fortunately, even if I wanted to, I found out that I have a chronic illness that is only exacerbated by drinking things like soda, so I really can't go back. I honestly miss that cold fizzy snap of a half frozen Dr. Pepper, but I know if I tried it now, I'd be screwed, so it's not worth it.

Yes. I was addicted to soda all my life until a year ago. Now I only drink water and fruit juice. It was weird how it happened tho. I got sick and tried to drink a soda again and it was gross. It's like my taste buds changed.
I drink Zevia now. I actually did stop 100% for years but I started drinking Zevia recently and it kinda works for me a little. It's made 100% from plants AND its sweetened with Stevia, a natural sweetner that won't cause weight gain. Take it from the guy who was dropping 13-14 lbs a month. won't cause weight gain at all and not gonna hurt you when you want a fix. Just takes some adjusting to.
Created by two concerned parents who saw the toxicity in the cans their kids were drinking they decided to start their own brand. they've come a long way in the short time they've been around for!
I did many years ago. Not only is soda very bad for you, but I came to despise Coca Cola and Pepsico's corporate cultures.
The only soda I drink anymore is the occasional root beer. A&W from a bottle or Mug on tap. Sometimes a Jarritos tropical flavor. An ice cold soda on a hot day CAN be refreshing. But again, it's rare for me to have one.
There's a really good burger joint near us (that has a lot more than just burgers) that has its own brand of root beer. It's delicious. A root beer float can be a treat, too.

I never understood why people drink it in the first place and it kills me when someone says they’re thirsty and gets a soda. It’s like you’re now going to be even more thirsty after consuming that soda. A soda doesn’t hydrate you whatever and is more so a liquid candy bar
Well I drink coke zero now. I quit drinking for a 100 days. Then I tried coke zero. After a 100 days I didn't miss the sugar anymore. But the carbonation was like saying hello to an old friend.
Honestly I think it's psychological with me. I mean if it's hot I'll drink water. But I don't want to drink water with meals. I've never smoked but considering I hear smokers say a cigarette after a meal is like an enhancer. That's the best parallel I can draw. I feel like soda is just a flavor enhancer.
It's not ideal, but at least I'm not drinking a that sugar and empty calories anymore.Yep. Completely cut out all soft drink nearly 18 months ago after a heavily soft drink dependent addiction. So proud of myself for ditching it.
I can’t even remember the last time I drank a soda. I gave them up awhile ago because they’re not at all healthy for you. I’m not saying everything I eat and drink is perfectly healthy for you, but there are certain ingredients and certain drinks & foods that I stay away from because of what I’ve heard and have come to know about them.
I now drink Zero Sugar Pepsi but have noticed no difference in energy levels. I'm wondering if it really does not have sugar in it. I've tried to give up soda but have been unable to. I don't drink coffee so I get it from soda. What does everyone else think about soda? It's also not good for your teeth either.
I stopped without even realising I did once for two weeks and lost 4kg without changing anything else to my diet or lifestyle. Then I intentionally stopped for a month and lost 3kg.
However I did not have more energy or a better skin or whatever it was solely weight loss.I was never really addicted to soda but I try not to drink any sort of sugary drinks now. It's empty calories I don't need. It also gives you a quick energy to then making you feel tired and fat. So now I try to order water when I go out to eat unless I crave soda or something else. I never deprive of any foods or drinks I want. I just try not to drink them everyday and if I do I'll drink a third of a can and split it etc
I stopped for a time and I noticed it helped too. Being back in my college dorm, I fell into old habits (because for some reason they have a soda fountain machine for free but you have to pay 2.99 for bottled water). Now that I'm home I haven't drunk soda since my last day of class, hopefully I can do it even longer than before.
We don't have soda's in our house but we do have apple and orange juice and fruit juice boxes.
cutting out items from your diet that contain added or artificial sugars and salts can be a benefit to a your health. but many things have natural sugars and salts in them which can help control your bodies natural levels for them.
I had a ''coke-phase'' (''Covid-boredom-syndrome'') not too long back. And the belly I grew in a matter of weeks was alarming to me.
Back to beers - and I'm my beautiful self again :D
(ok... I also take longer walks with the dogs now ;) )Yes. I made this choice because it has barely no nutritional interest and some harmful components (high acidity, lots of sugar, etc). In my opinion, soda drink is the worse thing we can find in a fast food for example. I made the experiment of replacing soda with water or fruits juice. The result is that my meal is much easier to digest. For these and other reasons, I determined that it is too much expensive for what it is actually worth. I don't need soda.
That's personal of course.Never had the habit of drinking soda even as a kid. Is not something I even have in my refrigerator. I do drink soda once in a while but definitely not every day or every week.
I haven't had soda in so long that I can't remember what the before and after was like. Now that you mention it though, I did drink a lot of Pepsi to stay awake when I was in college. I was always tired.
Nope my favourite thing in the world right now is my soda stream. I enjoy a sparkling beverage
I had quit drinking sodas before and, after lapsing for a year or two, just quit them again a week ago. It does make a huge difference.
I stop for 2 months then start back. At this rate i just try not to do it as daily as before. I loved it like 3 times a day. Now its maybe 4 days a week, once or twice a day
I did stop for a while. I have cut way back maybe 1 or 2 a week. I already gave up beer so I owe it to myself. ,
In the past. Lasted a few years. But have relapsed. Will probably try again soon. at least I drink mainly sugar free now
Pretty much. I never liked sodas much to begin with, except for root beer. I stopped drinking soda a while ago and it did jack-all to my health.
