Hell Yeah! Can you imagine a more vulnerable position. You're laying on this bizarre bed-like thing with a creepy guy hovering over you with pain-inflicting instruments. You'd have to be sedated to not be frightened.

I'm a big boy now so I understand that he isn't out to _____ (insert horrific thing) me, but I still dread going.
(Thank you for this question. Now, when I get my teeth cleaned on Thursday, I will be thinking of Marathon Man the whole time.)
I've had several bad experiences with dentists over the years, starting when I was 8 years old and my tooth hurt. Mt mother took me to the dentist, he said I was fine, then on the way home, blood erupted from my mouth. I've finally found a good dentist and I trust his practice, but I still ask questions about what he is doing.
I was scared of everything as a kid. Doctors overall I hated because I had so many experiences where they would hold me down to make me cooperate. Dentists weren’t as bad at least they checked in and didn’t hold me down but I hated the sound of the drill for cavities or other issues. As an adult I still don’t like doctors, hospitals or dentists lol but I’m able to rationalize and calm myself now.
I was scared as a child because of pain. The usual child doses of medicine did nothing for me and I always felt sharp pains while getting fillings.
But now that I’m an adult, they actually give me enough pain control and the experience hasn’t been bad since then.

The dentist I had as a kid was amazing. He would always hum or whistle while working on our teeth... but even more so, his hygenist was amazing (she is now a good friend of mine). He also always had a big prize box that we could pick from after each checkup so it made going to see him fun and not so scary. :)
Yees, I had to go to this woman who was really rough, it hurt a lot and I hated it and I was always talked bad too by her and my mom, even tho I did brush my teeth all the time and never ate much candy etc and I still procrastinate going to the dentist lol
Yes, I dreaded being taken to the dentist when I was a child.
The dentist who was used by my parents did not use local anaesthetic on me until I was 12 years old.
Until I was 12, I did not know that anaesthetics existed. I was expected to just sit there and scream as the dentist drilled my teeth. It was like a scene from Marathon Man.
I was as a kid. The first memory I have is when I was 5. The first time I went to a dentist I kicked her in the face. She was surprisingly calm and patient. Instead of yelling or ordering staff to hold me down, she took her time to talk to me and calmed me down. When she learned I liked Dragon Ball, she showed me her tattoo of Goku and we talked for 10 minutes. She completely changed my view about dentists. Never been afraid since.
I wasn't but am now. The last time I went I had a tooth pulled and a cavity taken care of. He numbed my gums around the tooth getting pulled but not the cavity. He started drilling on the cavity and I started hollering like crazy. His response "I thought it was shallow enough to drill without numbing. Let me give you a shot to numb it up."
I hated the dentist and still do. I have had cavities and even had invisalign in my 30's it's just a nuisance.. and the drilling sound.. is so irritating. I have gotten used to it... but I have had a point in my life where I had a whole in my tooth.. and even being outside in the cold air.. would hurt my teeth.. so for that I am grateful.. but just not fond of dentists
nope... because I never ever heard of dentists being scary, and because before I ever went to a dentist, I went to few other doctors a few times, for a few shots, so a dentist visit was just another one
I had a real sadistic dentist. He never used Novocain when he drilled. He would just drill it out and say "This is what happens when you don't brush your teeth. I can still smell the burning tooth smell from the friction of the drill.
No, i never had bad teeth as a child so i just needed to get the regular clean up - so its not as if i was going through something painful or weird
I am one of the weird ones that actually loves the dentist, not sure why... lol
I hate going to the dentist still do. I remember whenever we left from her office I was mumbling curses in the elevator for the struggle she made me go through.
I used to be. But then I got over it. Humans are designed to adapt like any creature if on applicates that it works.
That depends if I'm getting chocolate gas while at the dentist but occasionally I'm fine at the dentist
The reverse for me. I was fine as a kid but now that I’m older I hate the dentist. The cavities are the ones I can’t do. (Stupid drills) I’ve gone to two orthodontist for braces when I was 13.
I was scared of everything as a child. My father, the dentist, dogs, going to school. You name it, I was scared of it.
This condition even has a name: Panophobia
If you're wondering what happened, I grew up.
I'm usually not scared of the dentist although last time I went he jabbed a lot of things in my mouth which was uncomfortable. But it doesn't make me scared just not going back to that specific dentist.
Nope! I'm one of those weird people who LOVE going to the dentist. 😁
Never been scared of the dentist and overall always had pretty good experiences with dentists.
I'm not scared of dentists but I dislike going to them.
When I was a child I was not scared at all of the dentist, actually I'd be more afraid currently, since I don't go there so often.
Not scared of but didn't like it. I still hate the dentist really they have srewed me a bit. But I hate going as I don't like not being able to see what they are doing it makes me anxious.
No I was not i never understood that kind of fear
Never been scared, just find it extremely unpleasant
No At the Dentist I always had a Boner my Female Dentist was always Super Attractive.
I still get nervous. I was almost likely to cry whenever I went there as a kid.
Well, anything that can result in really sharp sudden pain seems pretty sensible to be scared of.
Oh hell yes, I still don't like going to the dentist.
I'm a masochist for pain. Plus, I have a huge crush on my dentist.
I don't remember ever being scared.
I am only scared they will hit some nerves
never been scared lol
Always have been. One word.. Pain.
I was when I was a kid. Not anymore.
