Handling stress helps improve someone’s ability to handle more stress, so when thought if that way, it can be good in the sense that it can make your mind stronger if you’re continually getting better with it.
That’s why the United States military has such emphasis on putting their soldiers through intensive training that isn’t just a test of physical strength, but actually more-so a test of mental strength, so that they can stress very well and remain calm even when they are an inch from death.
It’s all in the mind, yes. But it’s also a very normal reaction to have if you don’t know if you’ll be alive the next day.
Stressful situations and stressful events are unavoidable in life. It’s never comfortable, but because it’s a part of life, it’s something that we just need to get better at handling. Like handling bad weather. It’s not pleasant, but the better know how to handle it, the less things will begin to stress us, and the more calm we can become in any situation.
When I get stressed, I try to get unemotional, focus on the solution, the task at hand, what can I do NOW that will solve the problem I’m in. Forget how I feel. What do I need to do? Then I do it.
I don’t personally have military experience, but I do have a mentor who was a former United States Marine Corps infantry squad leader.
Stress comes in two forms. Eustress and Distress. Believe it or not, stress itself doesn’t kill. But genuinely believing it does, causes it to kill you. It’s the placebo effect. Stress to me, is energy to meet a challenge. I don’t see stress as bad.

i take care of my mom with dementia. i’ll tell you your thought is totally off
combat veterans will tell you that your are so far off you sound under educated with stress. I’m just going to say you posting to take the piss out of folks who have serious issues with stress.
I didn't post to piss people off. Why would someone get mad about it? I know someone with dementia and I'm sorry you're going through it.
That's why I put "I believe". I would like to get others opinions and see if I'm wrong. Not meant to piss people off but to gain information. I'm not going through the exact same thing everyone else is. My thoughts about it are different probably because of my past experiences.
I stress all the time, for short bursts and calm down
Overall I do try to be pretty stress free
I mostly get stress on my own fault trying to please everyone and still have time for some fun and creative work
Stress is abslotly self created but its not all bad, it push you to get stuff done
I firmly disagree with your take; I think there are absolutely inherently stressful situations, and I think the survival element of induced stress speaks to that point. Stress allows us to survive dangerous situations.
As for how I deal with it; I focus on my objective.

Everyone has different lifestyles and different things happening in their life. This was just my view on it. Everyone has their own views and i probably haven't had it as bad as some. I'm sorry you're stressed out. What relaxes you?
It stresses me out to think about it as I have so much to finish and start. 😟

Not all stress is self-induced.
Some stress is necessary.
I find ways to deal with it - physical exertion, mental distractions, etc.
Actually stress heightens awareness. at work not very useful, lost in the woods surrounded by mountain lions and bears... very useful
Getting rid of stress is one of the main reasons I run and workout.
I try not to even think of the word, instead focus on what needs to get done.

I agree with you on this. I try to recognize it when it happens so I can minimize its impact on my health.
