How dangerous is birth control?

This is a question for mostly women but men can also state their experience of what they saw. If birth control has a lot of negative side effects why would you even use it.

More dangerous than the people who are paid to promote it will tell you.

Injecting/ingesting synthetic hormones wreaks havoc on your hormonal system. Anybody who knows anything about the endocrine system will know this.

There have been a few male birth control pills which have been trialed, and the men who were tested on were heavily criticised by women because they all quit early because of the side effects, which the women said were very common for the female pill. They said that the men should just suck it up like they do.

After looking deeper into this, I discovered that in all cases they contained a chemical which shut sperm production, and along with that natural testosterone production was shut down as well. To counter-act the drop in testosterone, which can lead to health issues and obviously leads to a decrease in libido, they also added synthetic testosterone.

We’ve all been told about the dangers of injecting/ingesting steroids right? But steroids are just testosterone-based chemicals. Many bodybuilders will just inject pure testosterone. Same thing.

The reason they discourage steroid use is because of the long term damage done to the hormonal system. Even a short 4-week cycle of testosterone will affect your ability to produce testosterone naturally long-term. Bodybuilders and athletes who’ve done regular cycles or have taken testosterone long term usually have to take TRT for the rest of their lives because they can’t produce a healthy amount anymore naturally.

And yet they want to claim that it’s safe now? And women say that men should just take it like they do?

It’s crazy to me how people will just trust whatever they’re told by people in authority and how little they’re able to think for themselves.

Birth control pills have been used safely since 1950 when first approved by the FDA, and todays pills have lower concentrations of hormones. However, they do have some dangers, especially for women with out of ordinary conditions, and older. Birth control pills can be prescribed by your pharmacist, but your doctor should be much more familiar with your particular health and it would be wiser to get the prescription from your doctor. Other methods of birth control exist with different effects and risks, from cervical caps to IUDs. Again, best to discuss with your doctor.

After being on birth control for a few years I was fine on it. Different women react differently to it. Some women get side effects like mood swings, nausea etc. and others are ok. With regards to danger it increases your risk of having a blood clot quite significantly so therefore it’s not advised to give to smokers which then triples your chances I think. We go on birth control for the ease, it makes it easier to manage your periods. You can skip a period altogether if you want by taking the pill packets back to back. It can clear up spots. It’s good if you have a hormone imbalance. Also you don’t have to worry about using another form of contraception which makes those steamy impulsive hook ups with your partner easier lol

Why would you try to stop your body from its natural work by throwing in something that can cause problems in it. I would never use something that affected my body with possible side effects just to stop it to do something its meant to do. If its for sex just use condoms and be careful, birth control can fail sometimes. Condoms if used carefully are 100% save if checked.

I know its a personal choice but it just seems so wrong to try and force your body to stop what its supposed to do. I think that never ends without a consequence.

People who use condoms don't care about real sex. They probably don't even know the difference.

Also, condom are NOT 100% effective. They're no more effective than the pill.
And some women have an allergy to latex that can cause irritation or infection.

So I was on the Depo Provera birth control for 14 years. I was having really bad migraines and it was discovered that the Depo shot was causing intracranial hypertension (fluid on the brain). I had to come off of it and go with a Mirena hormonal IUD. The damage was done to my brain. I had to have brain surgery to place a device in my brain to drain off access brain fluid. Yes, it sucks but I feel so much better.

First of all, we're talking inconvenience, not "danger". And second, the above is obviously a huge exaggeration.

Birth control can cause inconvenient side effects for some women, but they are not nearly as inconvenient as an unwanted pregnancy and having to raise a child when you don't want one.

Its not for everybody equally as bad and also thats what you pay for not being pregnant but I had such problems with hormonal bc that I now switched to a copper IUD what I can deal with a lot better
