Why is raw meat bad for humans, but not animals?

Pretty much any carnivore will eat raw meat if presented with the opportunity. We can't without getting sick. Why is it okay for them, but not us?

humans could eat some raw meat, and there is food like that, not all humans would be able to do so though, and it is a very high risk

and it is the same thing for animals, many of them prefer fresh kill because that's a lot less risk than just going for something that has started to rot... the ones that are more desperate will go with what they can

and then you have other animals who are able to eat "anything" because they can handle it, they evolved for that

so, it is about chances and risk... also, is not exactly the raw meat what would make you sick but the bacteria and other stuff that can grow in it or was growing in it, lol

Probably because we evolved out of that ability after we learned how to cook food.

Somewhere between 400,000-300,00 years ago, we discovered fire, and learned to cook out food. Once we started doing so, we gradually lost the ability to handle the bacteria found in raw meat, since our bodies weren't regularly exposed to it, anymore.

If we'd never started cooking our food, then those people that couldn't tolerate foodborne illnesses would have died out, and the survivors would have learned to adapt, and live with it.

Interesting theory, but tell me, if we could eat raw meat, why bother cooking it?

Because humans are naturally frugivores. Our digestive system has been built to digest fruits the best. I know a few fruitarians and raw plant foodists that eat mostly or even entirely fruits. They all are quite healthy and don’t even need to get checkups or supplements.

Because humans are not carnivores or even omnivores like dogs and bears. We are meant to eat fruits, as that’s all we can eat without cooking it

we have canine teeth, which are desgined to pierce flesh, thus we are omnivores, probably closer to the herbavore side though

Rofl no we don’t. Look at our teeth compared to the teeth of other carnivores and omnivores. Our canines are a joke, a little thing that started evolving as we moved to new food sources out of desperation and pittered out. Some people have slightly more pronounced canines but most people hardly do at all

We can eat raw meat. Steak tartare raw fish. It just needs to be super fresh and handled properly. I admit this is not a fool proof theory lol.
