Anyways, I've had two in my life, and both stopped within a month. When I say stopped 100%, no periods, no nothing... no pads, no tampons.

The best part was almost no cramping.

interesting. i’ve had mine for a year and now i’m like two weeks late for my period. i took a pregnancy test and it came back negative so i think my iud may have stopped my period? i have felt my common period symptom but i haven’t actually had a period.

They don't always stop them for everyone, can be reduced or less often though. My friends never stopped and then started to fall out after just 3 months... was very painful for her.

The heavy bleeding should let up after about three months, putting you back into your normal cycle routine. If you're still bleeding heavily at six months, see the doctor who placed your IUD.

There are plastic ones that are infused with hormones but they don’t stop periods either. The hormones just help regulate your cycle.

there’s two types of IUDS. one is hormonal which is found to stop period. and the other is non hormonal which usually causes more bleeding. you should research it.

I’ve known women with both. The copper one caused bloody mess periods and the plastic one just helped regulate.

I’ve been face deep in plenty,? and yes, I’ve worked with GYN doctors before.
Every woman is different and I’ve known enough women that I don’t trust the claims made. It’s a case by case basis.

exactly so why would you make such broad statements? i’m literally in school to go into being an OBGYN. i know how birth control works but i wanted to hear women’s’ personal experiences because everyone is so different.

Also, in my years of working in medicine and my wife being a nurse I don’t trust any medical claims upfront. I’ve had doctors completely change a diagnosis and treatment plan once they realized that I knew what they were doing.
The medical field is a wonderful career and does greatly help many people. Please don’t forget that some are in it only for the money and don’t care about the patient.
