It is not about being "unsatisfied with your body". It shows how little you know about the issue.
Their body is of one gender (let's say in this case male) but internally, they identify themselves as the other (in this case, female). This gender mismatch causes obvious frustration and depression, since they are on a body that is not the right one. They feel like their brain is trapped inside a primate's body, completely alien to their conception of themselves. Some learn to live with that, others try to "fix" the body they are in in order to feel close to their image of themselves. Doing that allows them to be who they are.
Men don't have breast, that is why they get surgery to remove them; women don't have penises, which is why they get surgery to remove them. The parts they are removing are not vital for anything. They are not an arm, a leg, a lung, or a kidney. And yet, doing that they start accepting that body, because it is matching better what they are inside.
So no, it is not an illness.
