Because that's what the media presents as "beautiful."
Also, thin = vulnerable = feminine, according to our culture. In other cultures, huge curves and strong bodies are feminine. It's all subjective.
There's nothing wrong with being a size zero if that's how you naturally are, but obsessing about being a body type that you aren't meant to be is what's unhealthy. So many girls I know seem to think that if they just lose 5 more pounds, their life will be so much better.

Society tells us from a young age that smaller is always better when it comes to pants size and what not. Models are pretty much always a size zero, in magazines models are edited so they are seen as being beautiful and as females we subconsciously take how we look and compare it to them. Being full figured is not very accepted by gossip magazines and television.

It's what girls grow up seeing in magazines and on television today...there's not much you can do about it sadly. That being said I'm a size 0 and I don't think I'm short.. I'm almost 5'7. But that's how my natural body is, and people that don't know me judge me for that at times and I don't appreciate that either.:P
They want that frail, delicate model, ballerina look. honestly if they aren't hurting anybody or killing them selves, let them do it. I am sick of people preaching to others about what is healthy. If someone wants that look, let them have it, if they want it for the wrong reasons, let them learn on their own and make their own mistakes. phew, I had to get that off my chest, haha.
media/advertising tends to promote super skinny girls... I personally find curvier, thicker girls to be more attractive.
I'M a size two and I have a "booty licious" butt as my friend calls it haha. I actually want to be a size 1/2 because it is so rare in most cases, especially with obesity spreading. To me, it's a self esteem boost to be able to think "I'm thinner than her". Sounds shallow, but I has a Past with anorexiia as well as bulimia, and I did read somewhere that it is common for eating disorder survivors to actually maintain a 0-2 even after they recover.
My sister wanted to get rid of some of her barely worn, $90/pair Express jeans that are a size 2 and I'm keeping them until I can squeeze my fat ass into them. I can't wait to get back to university at the end of August so I can hit the gym everyday. I love feeling fit and looking good. Being a size 2 would be my ideal.
That is just my personal belief. I don't condone eating disorders or an unhealthy self-body image. I know how to eat well and exercise right. It's funny because most people who are just naturally size 0, want to be bigger. Vice versa. A lot of girls have this mindset that the smaller the better.
i'm a size 2 and will maintain this size. I look good and I wouldn't want to be any bigger
ummmm for my two cents... I love curvy women... :)
yeah I don't get it either :/
because skinny girls are attractive...
