I stink very bad on my period only, why?

Normally I have a regular vagina scent when I’m not on my period. It’s a scent NOT odor and it’s not offensive. But a day before my period starts I smell like fish, then once my period actually starts I have a strong pungent odor. It doesn’t smell like fish after that point but it’s an awful stench and leaks into my asshole and just smells real bad. For example I bent down in the store today and a guy covered his nose. I can admit it’s an offensive odor and I wash twice a day but the smell remains strong. I feel embarrassed and unclean. No matter how many times I wash I still stink but once my period ends I smell normal again.

Period should smell like iron. At your age it could be a combo of BV and a yeast infection. I would hope you knew if you had a yeast infection because the entrance to your vagina itches. You also could be a diabetic.

Exactly how do you wash, just the outside, deep inside? If the latter, that MIGHT be the cause. Your puss already has things in it to keep it clean inside and washing it that way can actually kill those microbes and they won't be able to do their job and then the stink will build up.
I would suggest asking your gyno.

Gotta let yourself air out. Pads/tampons create bacteria and mixed with the blood will make things smell
