Are you afraid of heights?

Question

Last week I went to this lighthouse an hour ish from where I live. It was quite the climb up the stairs, I can't imagine the thigh and calf muscles of the lighthouse keepers back in the day climbing up those every day.

Going down was the tricky part, you almost need a slide. The steps are different heights and it feels like you're just going to tumble and roll down any second.

The area is also home to one of the largest seal colonies. They're within arm's reach, though you don't dare get too close.

Great photos and wow! I would love to visit such places. So far, i am good by not being afraid of hights. I have been to Gran Canaria and stood on the edge of the volcano at 2km high (none active). I have been to grand canyon, i did a bungy jump once too. As long there is no real danger so i am good, real danger like it's too windy that i could lose balance and there is nothing to hold on to, or it's too risky like the edges might fall off at anytime and so on.

there's something funny though... I've had hundreds of dreams in which I am absolutely terrified of heights and also very steep stairs similar to the ones you are mentioning

in my dreams, yes... I am afraid, but not in real life

Yes, I can't even look at picturex of people next to cliffs or on rooftops.

I once stayed in a hotel room with floor to ceiling windows on two corners of like the 20th floor and had to move to a regular room becsuse of the irrational fear that I would roll out of bed and crash through the windows in the middle of the night.

I couldn't even approach the windows when the curtains were open. Terrifying.

That looks a similar environment to where I live and play. I've got a head for heights and don't mind being on the edge of cliffs or even scrambling down some them. I'm not afraid but I've a healthy respect for the danger.

Unrestrained heights inspire a nervous reaction in me. I get a little vertigo even if there are restraints. So it’s fair to say that i’m afraid of heights. I’m also fascinated by the environments, views and perspectives though. Thus i spend an inordinate amount of time in fretful circumstances and it might appear that i’m not fearful at all.
I would probably have really enjoyed that same field trip.

Not afraid of heights, but back in time to get paid a few dollars a day to climb those stairs no way. Plus being in a job with a high risk of becoming suicidal or becoming a raving lunatic I’m very positive I do not want anything to do with the job

No, just scared of what happens if I fall and go splat on the ground. I’m fine in tall buildings because I know I’m indoors and not at risk of falling to my death. But things like roller coasters, bungee jumping and sky diving are terrifying to me.

Yes, but only when things start wobbling and there is genuine fear for me that I might fall. Balconies on tall buildings are generally not a problem, nor any situation where I'm tethered.

Over 10 years ago, I loved all kinds of high altitudes, but then those hights become my suicide plans due to bad family matters and matters made worse by family therapy that lead to gaslighting in the mental institution. The treatment was so inhumane that upon release I didn't want to have anything to do with this world.

I have built myself a career now but will never be free from the horrors they put me through.

I'm fine with heights as long as I'm on firm ground, but not if I'm suspended on something like a ski lift. I find those terrifying.

Yes, I have acrophobia, but I've learned to deal with it. For example, I stay back from the edge of high things, or I hold onto the railing.

Every year I get older I get a little more uncomfortable with heights. I remember being a little kid unafraid to climb to the top of just about any tree.
