Why was my wisdom tooth removal so expensive?

It was standard, I have the same insurance as my sister but mine was over 1k while hers was under 600… I also only had one tooth removed while she had more than one.

Insurance is the key & coverage is as well. When it comes to coverage you have to do your homework & make sure places are in your network. As for me two years ago I had to have a wisdom tooth removed & my dentist wanted to do however they wouldn’t knock me out so they referred me to an oral surgeon. Long story short the surgeon they referred me to wasn’t in my plan & I wasn’t fully covered so I found my own oral surgeon closer to my house & in my network as well. I had all my wisdom teeth removed instead of one & they knocked me out as well. Everything was under $600.

Lots of things go into figuring this cost. The big things to consider are:

• Are you being knocked out?
• Are any teeth empacted?
• Does you insurance cover anything?
