Can you get Mange from your dog?

we rescued a puppy 2 weeks ago and it was diagnosed with Mange just yesterday. I am very concerned if it can develop into serious skin disease on humans. Have any of you experienced this?

Is it contagious? Yes. Sarcoptic mange is highly contagious to other dogs and humans. Although sarcoptic mites are not able to complete their life cycle on humans, they will cause severe itching until they die.

There are two types of mange.

• Sarcoptic Mange (also known as scabies)
• Demodectic Mange (also known as red mange or demodex.

Sarcoptic Mange is contagious but Demodectic manage is not because the mites die after leaving the dog.
