Mental illness is not real?

well mental illnesses are definitely real, but they often can get misdiagnosed or faked by people. a lot of that has happened from a gross romanticization of mental illnesses across the media which may cause people to subconsciously choose heading towards that path. also, the causes of mental illnesses for people really do vary and trauma does not just cause it.
for me, my mental disorders were purely caused by trauma from a shit childhood and possibly bc of bad genes that runs in my family (bipolar and depression). however, bad genes and trauma doesn't always cause mental illnesses. trauma can cause symptoms of them like very deep rooted issues and cause a very rough period in one's life, but it improves on it's own in time. i feel like it's a mental illness when it's debilitating and healthy habits/environment doesn't change it despite it lasting a long time.
i believe they all are the same just different people express it each other
what specifically is all the same
Some mental illnesses are genetic like schizophrenia
Mental illness is real and not all of them are caused my traumatic life experiences
other examples?
hello? i would like to know
I have heard before people who are psychopaths were probably born that way.
which ones are developed
I learnt about many mental illness at school. It’s believe many mental illnesses are genetic but life factors can bring them on. I think mentall illnesses like depression or PTSD are mostly brought on by stressful and sad life experiences
this is not depression. They told me have major depressive disorder and i disagree. Ok
I believe psychopaths do understand the difference between right and wrong morally and legally they just don’t care about the feelings of other people. I learnt about mental illnesses years ago at high school but I have no university degree in the subject
no such thing. People just control it differently
everyone’s insane
For example a person who went to war is more likely to experience PTSD than a person who never did. This is a life experience.
I’m not insane.
they all say that
I’m pretty sure I am not insane. Insane means to be very mentally ill. I am not. I work full time, I treat other people the way I wish to be treated, I don’t see things that aren’t truly there and I don’t experience sadness and extreme anger all the time.
i’m glad you aren’t faking it. You’re authentic
Oftentimes you're right. Out of trauma all sorts of illnesses sprout, usually incurable until the root cause is addressed.
But they can happen without trauma too, for example getting vaccinated too much or drinking chemicals in the water.
so true
All of a sudden everyone is “mentally ill” especially people around my age (16-18) . They see as more of a trend which is why more and more people don’t believe in mental illness. Someone whose never had thoughts of hurting themselves or others , whose never experienced the true pain of being called crazy just because you are being yourself can say they’re “mentally ill” . They do not have the right to say that. Especially those self diagnosers , like why do that? Having mental issues is not a trend nor makes you gain cool points. Hence why people believe mental illness is a joke.
18* for the age correction
In a sense, you can say the terms mental illness and emotional trauma are often interchanged.
Traumas whether started as infants that people don't have a memory of or later on in life or generational or something else, have been going on across all generations that I can see. Many people die in grayness never having resolved it. Some people become abusers, others become people-pleasers, and often aren't viewed and labeled as "mentally ill".
Often the disease from the higher planes, like emotional trauma will manifest as a physical illness, could be in a form of a diagnosable brain dysfunction too. But just being traumatized, will change the state of your consciousness by itself, therefore it doesn't have to be professionally diagnosable to see it as a mental illness.
I JUST KNOW 1 THING. I WANT THIS TO GO AWAY
Ok it can. It will, if you don't make it worse. You may have been mistreated. Maybe you still are? Do you only have emotional trauma? That's the only problem you think you have in life?
nah i’m just destroyed
In what way? Mentally?
i’d rather not say on here in public
You're anonymous anyway. And I doubt anyone will click to read this thread anyway. You can even delete this whole opinion, or the question itself, until MHO is selected.
yes mentally
Does anything still contribute to more pain? Like the other opinion said, trauma can be dealt with (even though in many cases mental illness can also be cured.)
Not to invalidate your experience, but I'm certain that there are people who've gone through things much worse you may have and they recovered from it. This is to encourage you to see that there is an end to it.
Some is, some is not. Something like schizophrenia is a mental illness. While something like depression is a choice made by the person.
bipolar disorder?
this is not a damn choice. This is something i’ve had for a very long time.
control? what do you mean control?
I didn’t chose this.
choose**

Can you clarify your point a little more?

That's bullshit and you know it.

tell me what you know.
You must be a Scientologist
just looked it up is this derogatory?
i’m not
Tell that to someone with mental illness
They can answer. Apparently everyone has a mental illness.
do you see my point? Yes there are people that can and cannot control it.
False, lol...
