Can your nose lose its sensitivity over time?

I feel like my sense of smell has been declining for at least 18 years now. I know some people are genetically wired with weak smell sensitivity while others are more sensitive. My friend was or is a nurse and she told me after working a short while at the hospital, you don’t smell the hospital smells anymore.

EACH of your senses is borne by physical receptors and as such has its 'saturation point' wherein it reaches its maximum capacity to perceive a particular stimulus. As we age, fewer 'older' sensory cell's telemeres remain fully functional and uncorrupted to replicate new replacement cells. One's sensitivity to certain scents declines--- The REVERSE, occurs with heightened sensitivity to certain allergens among some sufferers.

Yeah definitely, things change as we age but it also depends where you work which could make it weaker faster

I have the same issue. I basically have no smell. Very little. I can only smell surtain odors. And usually it has to be really strong.
