I’m going to use this stupid analogy but just stick with me:
People who fit this description can be imagined as being in trapped in some sort of subterranean hell, like an underground fiery landscape with a small hole at the top leading to the surface. Now, people stuck down here have all these building materials to work with and they tend to do one of two things with them. They either 1.) build a ladder to the surface or 2.) build a home and stay in hell.
Building a ladder hurts. I mean you try to climb up and you just end up falling and hurting yourself, and more than that— it takes a great deal of effort to climb up it at all! But you’ll be at the surface by the end of it.
Building a home is the more comfortable option. There is no pain from falling involved, and it’s much more stable than a ladder. The only pain involved is just the comparatively slight pain of slowly burning to death.
Building a ladder is like taking action against what’s depressing you, it’s effort and it hurts and it’s unfair that the suffering person is the one that has to take responsibility but it’s the only way out.
Building a home is like seeking identity in suffering, it offers initial comfort for sure but it doesn’t do anything to help you out. I think that the people that “like” to feel like shit are just building a home, they’re trying to minimize pain as best they can while simultaneously undermining their future.
Cause they are sad, depressed and self destructive. we never know whats going on in someone life
They're a narcissist.
