I have seen people talk about waking up early in the morning. And somehow many of them tend to take a short nap or even a longer nap equivalent to sleep in the afternoon.
So the point being?

I get up early, but I don't nap. I still see advantage to it though just because I can accomplish so much more in the morning without interruptions. It's less a benefit on a work day, because I still have to "be available" until 1600, but on weekends I'm up between 0300 and 0400, let's say I sleep in and it's 0430. 8 hours later is half past noon, so I've essentially had a full work day to be productive and get "chores" done. Now chores may include playing with my rescue kittens, that next level of Halo, this week's charity 5k/10k, splitting wood (which I enjoy too much to call a pure chore), havesting today's fruit/veggies from the garden. Finding an excuse to pull out a bottle of wine I've been saving. By say, 1500 (3pm) that's 12 hours on a good day that I've been doing stuff. If I want to call it a wrap on building whatever, take a nap for an hour, I'm still up in time to make dinner easily, prep for a dinner party, or get cleaned up for whatever fundraiser/event/rescue-kitten-fort-building is on the agenda for the evening.
I always HATED mornings when I was growing up, and college certainly. My military time really reversed my opinion on that. I still need a metric butt-ton of coffee in the morning and I don't wake up chipper by any shot, but after a half hour of Joe I get functional and get going.
That nap is 100% necessary. If they don't recover the lost sleep, they could become sick. The body needs rest to bolster the immune system.
Then why wake up early unnecessarily? I can understand about early jobs. But for others like students and other people…
@Asker Maybe they have an 8:00 class.
Thanks for the MHO.
I never nap and I'm sometimes up 4 am (that's in the morning right?) when I've morning shifts. And despite of plans to just go early to bed those days - rarely happens. Unless I've another morning shift.
sometimes. It depends if i didn’t get the best sleep the night before and if i have time to even do it

I did it while working in the morning AND going to school in the evening.
Wake up at 4:30, worked from 6:00 till 14:00, went home, ate, fell asleep on the couch, had to leave at 16:30, school from 17:00 till 22:30, was home at 23:00, slept 6 hours.
Also did this from time to time when i had to work early shifts non stop, i am usually a night owl and can't sleep early so i usually tend to be awake till 0:00 at least, which isn't good when the alarm wakes you up at 5, at least not for a long time.
I sleep if and when I can.
There is absolutely no rhyme or reason as to when or how long I do.
None.
I wake up like at 6am and I try to stay away from taking naps as I used to sleep for longer than I wanted to.
I get up early and I never take a nap. I haven't had a nap since I was in elementary school
I retired if I get up too early I can go back to bed anytime
