Trending & News One bite from the Lone Star Tick could make you allergic to red meat

Consult a naturopathic healer who is familiar with symptoms associated with Lone Star Ticks, and fix my immune system.
Allopathic doctors don't seem to know anything about it.
That's why I spray myself with bug repellent before I go outside. Ticks are really bad this year. I'd die if I can't eat steak
Thanks for the mho

I have a friend with an Alpha-Gal allergy. She can not take most medications because it contains beef products. Even Tylenol and band-aids are off-limits. She only has 12 foods she can eat.
I'm not a big meat fan anyway, but once in a while I get a hankering for some good ol' bbq country style ribs. I would miss them.
Otherwise I eat chicken and fish and Chinese food with shrimp instead of meat.
Thanks for inviting me to give my opinion to your question. 🌺
While the lone star tick can cause alpha-gal syndrome, which triggers a delayed allergic reaction to red meat, this can be treated by over-the-counter antihistamines. If the allergic reaction is more intense, the person should seek immediate medical care and may need to carry a device to inject epinephrine, commonly known as an EpiPen.
If I happened to contract the alpha-gal syndrome there are other options but, there is a chance of a treatment to clear it up in the future.
How allergic are we talking here? Anaphlyactic shock from a porterhouse, or just not being able to digest it with a bad day after? I mean, if it's just a bad day on the toilet, load down all the things I love and have issues with like twice a year, eat that porterhouse with some cheesecake, and cocaine... That should dilate the vessels enough to offset it.
Ok, I looked it up, the ticks release alpha-gal in their saliva, which is a sugar in mammal meat. If you get bit by a whole lot of them at once if can trigger an allergic reaction to alpha-gal, and by extension all mammal meat (red meat).
The severity would depend on how allergic you get, like you can get allergic to anything else from over-exposure. So, yeah, you could increase your tolerance and ditch the allergy the same way, blending some beef and chicken, dog and duck, whatever until you can just eat it like you get rid of a peanut allergy for a kid.
that sounds like a cure for global climate change... not good for cows though.
I'd be ok vegetarian... maybe I'd start eating ticks like the turkeys do... chocolate covered, probably ain't too bad...
My main issue with being a vegetarian is I don't feel comfortable eating a lot of beans or chickpeas unless they are home cooked fava beans so my protein options are smaller, also because I try to avoid too many nuts, beyond the minimum I need for minerals and vitamins since I also have difficulty with nuts.
Many fruitarians eat no beans or chickpeas. They live well.
It would be bad, but I would survive. I actually prefer poultry anf fish over meat anyway.
A friend if mine was bitten by the tic and can no longer have meat... bummer.

If it’s just red meat, I’d be fine cuz there’s chicken, Turkey, pork, fish, etc you could still eat… If it was “all” meat…Noooo😱😩
I would still be fine because I only eat chicken, egga and certain types of fish. So, I'm happy as long as I don't get allergic to chicken!!
I don't eat meat anyways so wouldn't matter if I was allergic to it
I'd be totally fine. My boyfriend probably wouldn't survive to the weekend.
I would be a very sad man. If I can't eat meat, I would lose a huge part of my identity
Be vegetarian, if I actually ate meat. It ain’t that bad, honestly! It’s even said in the Bible: be fruitful and multiply.
I already lost cheese because of my heart attack. If I lose meat too there's going to need to be an intervention.
I could live without meat, but not cookies. 😋
You get allergic to cookies if the cookie monster bites you.
@888theGreat Nooo... He's a good monster. 💕
Jump off the nearest cliff because life would no longer be worth living
I don't like red meat, it should be cooked properly.
I only eat it maybe once a week, so no biggie.
I would first be curious as to whether or not it was the meat versus something in it, but in the end if I couldn't solve the problem with and I histamines I would simply stop eating it.
I guess I'd be a vegetarian but I'd miss a good steak occasionally
I don't eat meat so that is fine.
I wouldn't even know. Maybe I already am.
Start working on a cure! To the Curious lab!
I might have to kill myself, lol.
Wouldn't change anything.
Sounds like a blessing.
Starve.
I’d eat white meat.
Start loosing weight.
Die happily
So no more borgar?
