healthcare worker here and yes you actually can. it can be spread through direct contact with an infected persons saliva or skin. cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, which is highly contagious. you can get one and not even know, but normally tingling, burning with small fluid filled blister or cluster or will look like a small pimple if you do get one. give it a few days and see what happens
