I think some people misunderstood that. It didn't last for a year, it was over a year since they had it. It only lasted about a week.

well it's ridiculous so many people get cold sores here and there. If someone says they won't kiss you because you had a cold sore before, that's just weird unless they have the impression that you have herpes which in a way cold sores are a form a herpes.

Cold sores are in fact from the herpes simplex retroviruses, the same ones that are labeled stds.

Once you catch it, it is in your body forever, it can be dormant at times externally, but will resurface, and even while dormant it damages your dna continuously/permanently. It is a serious retroviral infection, a nation even banned kissing for a time in an attempt to stop it's spread.

It's very important that the spread stops, people need to take it seriously. Always test someone before doing ANYTHING with them. This is common sense.
