How far can you walk in a day?

I feel like I can walk pretty great distance. I had a couple months where I was on crutches this year, so I think that affects my average. But it's not uncommon for me to have 15 to 20,000 step days. A lot of those steps are spent between 6000 and 10,000 feet above sea level.

Specifically, I'm an agronomist and provide guidance in regards to vegetation management on certain tracts of land in the climatic region that we live in the southwest. I recently picked up a new contract inspecting vegetation management performed by tree companies performing line clearance. That goes until the end of the year. Next spring will bring me back into the high elevation fields of ranchers.

My background profile picture is of a gnarly old pine trunk that shows it twists, which indicate how water and nutrients are translocated up a trunk. The structure of these channels are a good way to see behind the scenes of how our trees work and why they have dieback patterns that are often complicated.

The pay is decent, but not phenomenal. My spouse, she makes a lot more than I do. It keeps me active and I get to enjoy some wonderful scenery from time to time. It certainly helps my high altitude cycling efforts.

I understand that. My favorite jobs donโ€™t pay shit lol.

Nothing satisfies me more than remote forests and pure nature. Wildlife and pure clean energy.

But alas bills need to be paid. Until Iโ€™m completely capable of living off the land.

I wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep pushing for that. I'm gonna work on expanding our own little garden plot at home this fall and next spring. I don't know if I'll ever be able to raise animals, but we can certainly grow our own vegetables.

One of my good friends who also happens to be a plumber lives on five or 6 acres and has a wonderful garden plot and they have 12 or 13 chickens. So he's pretty well said if he really needed to be. I think he buys half a cow once a year as well.

I have a small farm on a couple acres with a hodgepodge of animals, trees, bushes and garden. The more you know, the better off you are.

Iโ€™m always identifying wild plants for medicinal and food purposes while exploring on my hikes. Itโ€™s a hobby of mine.

One of these days, maybe I can disconnect from the grid and disappear into the woods lol

32 km is a damn good hike!

I just had to see more trail lol ๐Ÿ˜‚. Did a 4 mile trot today to losses up my legs from yesterday. 15 miles is my upper end for sure. It took 12 hours to do that distance on the Appalachian Trail.

If I can run 30 miles to train myself for a marathon, surely I can walk longer than that since walking is so much easier than running. If I hiked with a backpack loaded with food and water, I can probably walk an entire day.

Waking and running use different muscle sets. I used to run a lot but now Iโ€™m older and my joints prefer the steady low impact of walking
