Are there trails along the PCH that you did this? Man that must have been just 😎

There are back roads and stuff that you can take and also at that point in time it was very difficult to hitchhike although I will admit to trying it multiple times when I got tired of walking. Nobody would pick me up. So I kept walking. I wouldn't say it was so much cool but I did get to see a lot of California that I don't think I would have seen had I been riding in a car.

u 1 yTen miles. One night sometime in the 1990's, my first wife and I went out shopping, She got mad at something and decided to punish me by getting in our car and driving home without me. Borderline Personality Disorder.

Why didn't you just call a taxi?
- 1 y
@Daniela1982 If I had gotten home just 20 minutes later, we would have had a nasty confrontation. A ten mile walk tired me out too much to fight when I finally got home.
- 1 y
I guess you can always resume the next morning. 🤔😆

@Daniela1982 We divorced in 2005. This question prompted me to Google her tonight to see where she is, and I found her obituary online. I've got a strange empty feeling now.

Well, 30 years can produce a lot of changes, including one's mortality. 😕

@OlderAndWiser Wow, that must have been a shock.
- 1 y
Indeed!
- 1 y
@OlderAndWiser I also Google people when they pop into my mind. Old neighbors, teachers that had a huge influence on me, among other's. It is always sad when I find out they passed away.
- 1 y
@OlderAndWiser I've had several situations like that, with college girlfriends, my first wife, and even my current wife. 3 to 7 miles has been typical. Yes, sometimes we have disagreements, and like you say, it's better to walk away and give us both time to cool down.
1 yI love to hike, so it's more about rough terrain and beautiful scenery, I don't put on a ton of miles. Maybe eight miles hiking. Just plain walking, I have no idea. I've been to a lot of outdoor festivals and fairs where I've walked all day and night.

m 1 yWe have some fairly regular walks and marches.
one that happens near me is the Pathfinder March, it links Pathfinder bases (WW2) and is a 46 mile March that must be completed under 20 hours - https://www.komoot.com/collection/1633454/a-hike-for-wartime-heroes-pathfinder-long-distance-walk Then we have the Nijmegen marches which are 4 days doing 40kms per day marching.
We also do some events such as the Lyke wake walk - https://lykewakewalk.co.uk this is 42 mile event that you do under 24 hours.00 ReplyI can't remember the exact distance, but I was running from a UA charge in NC for 5 minutes late, and totaled my car in Greensville, so not far from the starting line. Something to note is 5 minutes is the same as 28 days if you're going to be charged.
I walked until Virginia when I saw a large commercial lot to steal a car from and continue my misguided quest towards an OTH discharge. Granted I didn't know about cell phone tracking then (NCIS got involved when gunny got pissed), so after some butthole puckering and ditching the car I had to walk more to catch a greyhound to read the bible and eat breakfast in a hotel, then more shenanigans to make it back before the 28 day mark.
I think it was only like 50 miles walking in total, stealing cars wasn't that tough back in like 04, I even had the balls to get my totaled car over to an army base for different tags so I could keep using it on restriction and half pay to be a gypsy cab.

1 yMaybe 20-25 miles. I was stuck downtown one night and had to walk home. It takes a bus 30:00 to 35:00 to get me home from town. Granted, it takes them longer than a car because they have to make a lot of stops so, you can reduce travel time to 25:00 to 30:00. So, would that be roughly 20 to 25 miles? It takes me 11:00 or 12:00 to walk a mile.
However, one night, after a gig I decided to walk to my friends house, where I'd been staying, because I thought it was a LOT closer that it actually was!! I left the venue around 3:00 a. m. and got to their house around 5 or 6 a. m. so, that's anywhere from 11 to 16 miles.00 Reply 678 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I've been on several two week backpacking trips. On the last day of one, we walked about 18 miles from Thousand Island Lake, up over Donohue Pass, and the length of Tualumne Meadows to the lodge.

I have also hiked to the top of Multnomah Falls which is 2.4 miles round trip over 600 feet of elevation or the equivalent of 60 flights of stairs on uneven, steep terrain.
Plus I have been working at a job for 30 years where I am walking and climbing stairs all day long.

1 yI don't know. Over twenty miles with a heavy pack and big change in elevation. It's possible I've hit over thirty on paved roads.
Nowadays, I'm hurting before I reach 4-5 miles. I'll be hiking tomorrow, and I might get that far. But more likely it'll be under 4. I'm gonna be sore.
00 Reply 497 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. 3Miles. Seeing other responses on here blows my mind... why would anyone willingly walk that many 3 miles is an hour and that is a pain.
10 to 20 miles? Who's walking for 3 consecutive hours.
Wouldn't ever do that unless it was literally forced by some survival situation but even then without breaks? Yeah I would just give up.
One can easily walk more miles in a day but got to have breaks.00 Reply
1 yThe question really is, how far would you walk for someone you wanted bad enough?

1 yIn one shot? About 10 miles, but that was backpacking in. I walk about 2-3 miles most days; it's easier on the joints than running.

1 yBack in High School, in two separate years, there was a 25-mile hike to raise money for charity. A bunch of us walked together, along with thousands of other teens.
So, my answer is 25 miles.

20 ReplyI'm not yet done walking.
Maybe someday soon, but not quite yet.
Just kidding.
In one shot, I've walked about 20 miles, I guess.00 Reply- 2.2K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
