For some, it's connected to trauma when they were younger. So it could be a mental health issue.
For some, they might have grown up developing bad eating habits from parents like I did and it just only went into adulthood with those bad habits. It's very hard to start out fat as a kid and develop healthy habits as an adult. You have to be really disciplined and determined to get the weight off which is hard when those bad habits are embedded deep within the psyche. I'm in my 30s and still struggling to get the weight off because those bad habits are hard to break but I'm slowly but surely learning new good habits with my diet plan.
And for others, it could be a medical issue.
Losing weight is hard. It's not easy when you have mental health issues or a medical condition or grew up fat and developed poor eating habits from parents.
There are people who have overcome it and maintained their weight loss but it's few and far.
For those that say it is just pure laziness, they are right to a certain extent if the person doesn't have a medical condition keeping them big, but a lot of it is a mental thing which I suspect Amberlynn Reid has mental issues that she hasn't addressed and dealt with to get that big.
Food addiction is a mental issue one that is hard to overcome.
You can give up alcohol and drugs and as long as it's not in your house or around you, you can overcome the addiction. But food is always around you. That's something you can't just give up because you need it to live.
The trick is learning how to eat the right foods for your body and not overdoing it. For someone that has a food addiction that's hard to overcome.
Apart from a medical condition preventing them to do so.. I'd say lazy
I think too many people approach it like all or nothing. They try to cut out all their favorite foods overnight, like someone who consumes 80% of their calories from refined carbs going keto overnight, and I think that's too much to ask too soon. To me that's like asking someone who is completely out of shape to train like an Olympian right from the very beginning; of course they set themselves up for failure and will develop the mindset that nothing works.
I suspect far more people would be successful if they took more of an iterative approach to it, whittling away at their worst habits. That offers endless progress independent of weight.
If someone who loves to drink sugary drinks can just stop drinking those, for example, that's progress regardless of what the scale says. If they just keep making this type of little tweak to their lifestyle continuously, their bodies should reflect it over time.
I see the weight loss community constantly using the phrase, "Slow and steady wins the race." I thoroughly agree with the idea except every single person I've encountered is using the idea incorrectly. They're talking about how many pounds of weight they should ideally lose per week or month, when it really should be about how many small vs. large lifestyle changes they're making every week or month.
Explained perfectly 👏.. exactly.
It’s a food addiction and they need to ease out of it. I had to.
That's nonsense. Everyone is able to lose weight. If you go to starving countries in Africa, you rarely see an obese person. If you don't eat, you can't gain weight. Losing weight is simply about caloric intake vs caloric burn. If you burn more calories than you intake in a day, you will lose weight. People don't realize that the most efficient way to lose weight is to actually workout. It's not all diet as some lazy people want to believe. You improve your metabolism when you workout, which helps you lose weight when it comes to caloric ratio. So workout and stop making excuses.

They could have been dealt a very bad set of cards genetic wise. Both their parents could have been morbidly obese, passing along obese genetics to their kids on conception. Their parents might have nurtured them through childhood without instilling a sense of discipline. Their teachers might not have taught them about the dangers of eating mcdonalds every night, while avoiding leafy greens. By the time they reach supreme burrito status, their mindset of "I want to be skinny" might drive stress hormones through the roof, which block out their attempts to be skinny. Then finally, they probably dont realize that body recomposition requires a permanent lifestyle change rather than a short term health kick.
Could be a thyroid or medication issue. But for most people, it's just a question of diet and exercise.
I have PCOS , which is like diabetes. And causes insulin resistance makes us gain weight easy and hard to loose weight.
WITH THE PCOS. I was able to lose all the weight.
A lot of people use Thyroid and PCOS as excuses
I have thyroid issues myself! For me, losing weight was such a bear because every time I would make progress, the slightest thing would cause me to gain weight. I only ended up losing weight at first by going full vegetarian and working at UPS.
Once I got my thyroid taken care of, it was just a matter of getting to the gym and not eating bad. Were you able to treat your PCOS, or how did you go about losing the weight?
No didn’t treat it. Just remove any sugar and bread from my food.
BAM. Instant weightloss.
But of course with gym, low portions and cardio.
i saw a tv show documentary of obese committed to hours of exercise (ate protein to build muscle but low calorie).
they succeeded so CAN anyone.
It's impossible to be unable to lose weight. But if someone finds it harder, it could be due to many factors. Genetic &/or environmental. What the specifics are depends on the individual.
Lazy, they don't put themselves in a calorie deficit, they don't change what they eat
I imagine there is some kind of metabolic issue but I think mostly id is poor diet and lack of exercise.
It’s connected to mental health and the dysfunctions of family or lack of.
There are some meds that have that effect. Anti-psychotics are the absolute worst for causing weight gain.
Everyone can lose weight
Metabolism is one possibility.
