I've been intermittent fasting for a week and my weight has not budged. I'm 5"10 135 pounds and would like to get to 120. Anybody have weight loss secrets. I'm going to start including a gallon of water.
315 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Exercise , Exercise.. Intermittent fasting is a lifestyle choice ( I've done it for 5 years ) you will not get results in just a week , plus make sure you consume the correct foods in you max 6 hour eating window , initially cut out ALL processed carbs ( dont worry you will still get too much ) , ALL possible processed sugar , and quite obviously ZERO fast food of any description.
Its actually very easy to loose weight , but you must follow the strategy , and in your 18 hour min , fasting window its just water only , nothing else.
I was never fat , and always had a decent diet , but I blew out to 82kg ( very very fat for me ) , and I've followed the process for 5 years , I lost 15kg , yet added 2kg muscle toning , and I have now weighed in at 67kg - 68kg for 3 years , at an age when my metabolism was weining , I've got it really jumping again now and have run 2 x half marathons , and 4x 10.5 k road races ( fun runs all ) .
So whatever you are doing , it must include exercise and ZERO ( absolute zero ) any form of processed / fast food. People are simply not the correct weight these days , and this must never be just accepted , its self responsibility.

Fully agree
I crept to to 80kg and my heart check told me I was obese
I resolved to get down to 67kg
I also try to reduce my cholesterol
My first change was going to gym
And now I go every day during lunch
I also started into the Esselstyn vegan diet with little fat as possible.
Heart disease is the western disease due to the western diet
As you suggested no processed food as possible. No fast food.
In my country we used to laugh at American tourists who were obese but then we started to look the same.
Sedentary lifestyle combined with fast food, takeaway food.
It's an epidemic.
Myself, I'm zero alcohol, vegan and exercising. - 1 y
@fuddly

I'm from Australia ( living in Thailand , so plenty of sun and swimming ) , I still drink , wish I didn't , no beer..

I'm also of Irish heritage..

1 ymost definitely!!! why do you think men have gone their own way? they say they don't want to be objectified. but they do onlyfools? they say they don't need a man, but then complain later on when men don't help them. they ride the CC in their 20's and later complain that they don't have a man. they are delusional about the man they want, especially when they EXPECT a man to pay for food on dates because of the single kids they raise. all in all modern women have now created a paradox that they have to live in and they don't like it. what do they expect us men to tolerate it when women initiate 70-80% of the divorces? because they think the grass is greener on the other side? and lets not forget that accountability will ALWAYS be a women's kryptonite. so i'll just leave this here-you women continue to act like you are and we men will continue to avoid you until YOU change. it's just that simple, and a piece of advice for all the men out there... for men like myself who are financially well off, draw up that prenup... if she declines then you know she was just in it for the money and not you. we men are okay with being alone... you don't see us every day blowing up social media bitching, crying and moaning that we don't have a women in our lives and to be honest we couldn't give a flying fuck because we are on our grind and purpose in life while women want to wait at the finish line to pick up the scraps. this is the life you wanted women and now you get to deal with it. we men didn't create this paradox, we men don't intentionally break up homes and then wonder why my kid is so fucked up when a father is no longer in the picture. this is something referred to as cause and effect. you caused this and you don't like the effects. waaa waaa boo hoo waa. that's all i hear!!!

Such a angry reply. And not untrue in a lot of cases by the sounds of it based on your personal experiences but certainly not true in all cases. Maybe it's a UK thing but majority of guys are deadbeats depending on woman for support and being deadbeat dad's. Your prob argue that but that's my perspective and experience. Maybe if you have money you run in high end social circles where the gold diggers are gonna prowl.
I support myself in all things and expect a man to be able to do the same. I'd happily split everything 50/50.
Anonymous(36-45)1 yIf you just started Intermittent fasting, you shouldn't respect really noticable results for 2-4 weeks and that's if between fastings, you're eating healthy and you're also getting plenty of exercise. Like most diet/weight loss things, its not a miracle that's going to just rocket the weight off you. If you've got a small frame, it can also be sometimes much harder to lose the small amount of weight you want to rather than someone who's 5'10 and has 100lbs to lose, so be patient with it, stick to it, make sure you are consistent, and you'll eventually get there.

1 yStart with exercise. Create a calorie deficit in your body.
Work body areas to develop muscle on rotating basis- muscle develops on the REST days. Exercise days creates micro-tears in the muscles, and they repair themselves stronger on the off days. Upper body Monday. Core on Tuesday. Lower body on Wednesday. Upper Thurs. Core Fri. Lower Sat. Rest on Sunday. Do some cardio on most days. After a 6-8 weeks, NOW start to make changes in your food intake.

1 yNot gonna lie, I know next to nothing about nutrition, exercise, weight loss, fitness, etc...
BUT what I can say is that losing weight requires A LOT of discipline and planning ahead of time. It's not a simple and easy process you can do overnight. It's an extremely gradual process.
And not everyone is willing or is able to put that much effort.
Also, on the surface starving yourself or fasting may SOUND like a good idea, BUT from what I've read all it does is make you retain the weight for longer, since your body will be desperate to hang on to the weight/fat you currently have to not starve and die. Or so I've heard.
20 ReplyYou're already at the lower end of ideal weight for a woman at 5'10. If you went to 120 you'd be underweight. If you have any breasts or ass, that could be why. You'd have to burn those to lose the weight, and you won't get the tits back.
If you exercised you'd be thinner and actually gain weight because of gaining muscle (which is dense) and losing fat (which is not). Fasting would also make you gain weight by slowing your metabolism and cause your body to store more fats for the next time you starve yourself.
20 Reply341 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Because our bodies are designed to store weight for survival. So if you want to lose weight , you have to really watch what you eat and exercise more. Do more cardio , walk more , you don’t have to run and kill yourself , walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day or every other day , stay away from sugary foods and soft drinks as much as possible , Eat more vegetables and fruits , and don’t over drink water , too much water will make you bloated , have like 3 glasses a day add lemon juice to it if you get bored of water. Also drink organic teas , like Green tea and black tea , coffee is ok as well , use skim milk or 2 percent milk , instead of sugar, use cinnamon.
10 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Shedding weight I've found over the years comes down to 3 factors. 1. Calories in 2. Calories burned. 3. Quality sleep. This may sound simple. But trust me, if you're not getting good sleep your body will fight you on this tooth and nail. I used exercise all week, play basketball etc. And eat right. And my weight wouldn't budge. Then on the weekend I'd drop like 1 to 1 and 1/2 lbs. Why? Because I'd be sleep deprived all workweek long. As soon as I caught up on the weekend , so would my weight loss.

1 yAn Aunt whos a physical trainer and in great shape despite being 40 and having had 6 kids gave me great advice. She said try to stay thin at a healthy weight in your teens and twenties because when you get older into your 30s not only is it difficult to lose weight but your body naturally puts on weight so if you've kept a slim waist and thin figure any weight you put on will be in all the right places first before your belly, places guys find attractive like your ass, boobs, hips, thighs.
I think you are having trouble because you are middle aged now. I recently had a baby and I've my figure back but im under 30. Maybe focus less on weight and more on fat, especially belly fat. If you eat bread stop, cut down on dairy, drink water, drop sugar, ear a well portioned meal once per day. Incorporate recovery days from exercise, often necessary if you are at an advanced age.

Also maybe birth control. Whenever I first went on the pill my ass grew two sizes bigger.
Losing weight is challenging due to a combination of factors. Biological processes, like your metabolism, may slow down as you reduce calorie intake, making it harder to burn fat. Hormonal imbalances, such as high levels of cortisol or insulin resistance, can also complicate weight loss. Psychological factors, like stress, emotional eating, and ingrained habits, play a significant role too. Additionally, modern diets often consist of highly processed, calorie-dense foods that are difficult to resist. A sedentary lifestyle and unrealistic expectations for rapid results further add to the difficulty, making sustained weight loss a long-term commitment and struggle for many.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/cY4PKEYDhLM00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. What helps me lose weight is weighing everything I eat, logging it into a calorie tracker app (I use cronometer), logging the data into a spreadsheet & determining how many calories I want to eat relative to what my caloric maintenance is & how much I want to lose.

today I ate in a surplus because I'm trying to recover & tomorrow is training day. But it's okay because I have the spreadsheet set so that it automatically adjusts for the difference. In my case, I'll have to eat an average of 1742cals per day which is my maintenance intake (not counting my energy expenditure). And the average will either go up or down depending on how much I eat in a day. Tomorrow I plan on continuing the maintenance which is a deficit due to my energy expenditure.

1 yA week isn't enough time. Also, you need to take in protein and cut down on oils as much as possible. Even a tiny amount will fuck things up. Cut veggie/olive oils, frying oils for the first week I'd even say stay away from meat.
Drink water, eat fruit and have a peanut butter sandwich here and there and in 2 weeks you'll drop 15 pounds pretty much guaranteed. Then you can start slowly introducing a little meat and fish.
You want to be careful with protein because too much accelerates aging.
I was told 20g of protein a day and I'm a big dude so I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say for the average girl, you want to be more like 16g of protein a day.
00 ReplyThe best way to do it is to eat the right foods stay away from the sugary Waters colas juices but your fruits and vegetables are the things that keep you hydrated if you're drinking bottled water it's worse thing in the world for you it is disgusting if you do a pH test on it you will find it is disgusting and you should never drink bottled water not even tap water get a filter system and filter your water you're supposed to be drinking positive charged water not negative charged.
And then walk fast at a fast pace for 30 minutes a day for 30 days you will watch your whole body tone up like you will not believe but it has to be at a fast pace for 30 days you have to stay committed if you can do it for 60 minutes a day do that it's even better but everything has to work together you have to burn those calories in your body has to have a metabolism that just eats up those calories in order for to do that you need to work it00 Reply1K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. 135 sounds about right for 5' 10. Bear in mind women generally have a higher body fat percentage than men.
By American standards I doubt there's anyone there that weighs as little as you at that height.
Why punish yourself? Just focus on being healthy.
10 ReplyI suggest changing the things you eat
Pick certain things like fried food and make the conscious decision never eat that food again
Then add low density food to your diet like salad, arugula, vegetables
Drink plain water regularly
Try not to get into yoyo dieting
Try to eat to feel full but low calorie things
Also for breakfast eat porridge oats
Then build up your muscle with weight training14 Reply- 1 y

1 yI have so much respect for you for going on that journey, though 120 is a bit low unless you're trying to become a model or something (?)
Sometimes you need to add more carbohydrates to regenerate your metabolism before you try dieting again. That can reset your hormones and turn off your body's mechanism to become "more efficient" to preserve your body mass.
After that, it's just about eating less and less. People would be surprised by how little they can eat while still being extremely healthy! Just make sure you eat enough Fiber, Protein, Micronutrients, Electrolytes
Drinking more water will definitely help stabilize your blood chemistry, keep you full, and offset the lack of hydration from eating less food (which has water in it).
Good luck!00 Reply347 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. You body resist change to genetic calibration. For me, cards are my enemy. I am diabetic and I don't want to use insulin so I can eat carbs. Intermittent fasting does not work for me because you need more time to force your body into ketosis, which your body is burning fat because it is not getting the cards it wants. The brain is in control here. It is a process and you are never finished dieting. Change your lifestyle, lose the weight and then figure how many carbs you can eat and not gain the weight back. Good Luck Stretch.
01 ReplyIgnore any reply that isn't discussing calories. Keep track of your daily intake, slowly reduce until you start losing weight. Measure a couple times a week.
Also 120 is too low for you. I can't remember the exact minimum for your height, but it's def above 120. Being underweight is unhealthy, just like being overwheight. We shouldn't strive for intentionally risky weights.00 Reply- 751 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
1 yBecause your goal is not realistic.
Getting less than 135 pounds is bad for your height.
intermittent fasting is a stupid plan. It TEACHES your body "it needs to store fat for the days you won't eat"!
So never skip a meal. Eat small meals and stay at 135.

1 yEat lunch a lot that you don’t get hungry for the rest of the day. And stop eating after 2 or 3. And then eat lettuce leaves if you get hungry or an apple at night. That way you don’t get weight back after you lose weight. Sometime I even lose weight this way
10 Reply1.9K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Exercise especially cardio. The quality of food I eat is terrible with sugar and unhealthy high-calories overall and I still manage to maintain my weight with exercise.
Although the quanities I eat are small.11 ReplyI mean 135 at 5'10 is already skinny... I'm not saying that 120 isn't healthy either but you're definitely not fat or anything.
20 ReplyThe main way to lose weight, is 95% diet. Exercise is a bonus, unless you are lifting weights. Eat clean, 5-6 small meals a day and drink plenty of water, while burning more calories than your consume. Weight loss should be slow and steady to keep it off, and instead of dieting, make a lifestyle change to keep it off and be healthy. However, for women, the older we get, the harder it is to lose weight, but not impossible.

how many hours are you fasting vs eating?
you may simply be at a resistant weight. 135 for your height isn’t unhealthy. if you break below it once, you’re bound to gain the weight back if that’s where your body wants to be - 1 y
Carbs as in sweets, bread, things like that
