- Ginger can act as a diuretic, meaning it makes you produce more urine. Frequent diuresis from ginger tea could potentially strain the kidneys over long periods of time if consumed in very large quantities daily.
- Some studies have shown ginger may have mild toxin-removing effects like other diuretics. While this can be good for the body, it also means more toxins are filtered through the kidneys short-term.
- If you already have kidney problems or an underlying condition, ginger could possibly exacerbate those issues in some cases.
