What is the appropriate age to sit down and talk about birth controls and protection with my daughter?

such topics come naturally... in our case older had 7 years when our cat needed to have a surgery and it's womb must be removed. I used this event to talk about some natural things, and starting from this point, we were returning to the topic. Or she was interested and had questions she brought from school, or I was reviving the topic. When she hit puberty, she knew already everything she should know.

My mom gave me the talk about where babies came from around the time I hit puberty at 11 and didn’t retain a lot of it until she told me in more detail about it at 16, her age when she lost her virginity. Gave me the banana-condom demonstration and everything, by that time I was already on birth control for PCOS so it wasn’t a huge concern but I guess it depends on when you believe your daughter is ready, she’ll likely be introduced to sex at 14 at the latest
