I have pcos and I just started taking metformin anyone else taking this drug?

I have several issues due to PCOS. I get facial hair, thick leg hair and difficulty losing weight. I had my hormones checked and I have elevated testosterone and dhea and cortisol. Which, too much testosterone converts into estrogen and creates more fat around your abdomen. Then the wonderful hormone cortisol gets stored there, it's where it's found stomach fat, it also helps to encourage the stomach fat. One week on metformin and I lost five lbs so far. So I'm hopeful that this drug will help the other issues as well.

Has anyone needed to lose weight and it was helpful for that?

Yo girl, I feel you on the PCOS struggles. I've been taking metformin for about 6 months now and it's really made a difference for me too. Here are some things I've noticed:

- Definitely easier to lose weight and keep it off. I dropped like 10 lbs in the first month and it's much more manageable now.

- Way less cravings for sugary/starchy stuff which is huge. My diet was out of control before.

- Periods are more regular which is such a relief after years of randomness.

- Facial hair growth has slowed down noticeably. Still have to shave but not as much bulk coming in.

- Nice clear skin compared to the acne I used to get constantly.

Only side effect was some poopin' issues at first but that calmed down after my body adjusted. Stick with it sis, it really does help balance everything out. Lifestyle changes like diet and exercise work even better with it in your system. You got this girl! Feel free to hit me up if you have any other Qs.

There's so many misconceptions out there about weight loss. Everyone's looking for a new pill or a new magic trick that will make it happen. It's really really simple as much as people don't want to admit it; you need to be in a calorie deficit. That's it.

Sir, I have PCOS. Not sure if you know anything about that. I have been exercising, eating healthy and in a calorie deficit. Weight loss still has been damn near impossible. I have insulin resistance from pcos. I wasn't looking for a magic pill. And metformin which a drug for diabetes, already has been helping me.

PCOS causes all kinds of hormone issues, which is how your body operates daily. Your immune system, metabolism all rely on your hormones being balanced. It causes me to have facial hair like, excessive body hair and thick leg hair also.

I take Metformin but it is for diabetes control. I have not had any of the issues you are having though.

metformin fucked me up so i stopped all pcos medications and switch to spearmint tea ONLY
