Really been thinking of just getting some equipment for home and cancel my membership… save some cheddar
I had little interest in gyms when I got a partially torn tendon at my rotator cuff. Doctor sent me to physical fitness. That tightened the nearby muscles to hold things close together to keep it together and allow me full range of motion again. Paying for physical fitness was expensive. Once I learned all the exercises that held things together, I left physical fitness and got a membership in 24 Hour Fitness. They had the equipment that I needed to use to keep my rotator cuff working properly. When their prices became worse, I left there and found other places that offered the same equipment for much less. One example close to me is Planet Fitness which is only 10 dollars a month, and there are others.
The exercises I need are to strengthen the muscles that hold the rotator cuff in place. Using weights would make it much worse by tearing the tendon free,

Is that what they charge these days? When they were $15 a month I thought people were stupid to pay them. A decent bench and some weights is all you really need. If you don't like running outside, you can get a treadmill as well. The time you spend driving to and from the gym and parking you could have probably done your entire workout at home. At $50 a month you could pay for your bench in a couple months. If you hit up a garage sale or a used sports gear store you could probably pay for your equipment in a single month.
They’re outrageously stupid expensive. $50 monthly isn't even bad compared to what GoodLife (Canadian) is charging people $40 biweekly! with an enrolment charge. If your account has a negative balance, you can slapped with a $25 fine.
I’m thankful I have a home gym and most condo building have gyms as well but when I found out, I was floored.
With those prices, might as well go with a private specialty gym like CrossFit, MMA, or boxing.
Very much so… I loved it but it was so expensive… I decided to cancelled a gym membership such as that one. But it’s hard when there’s really great gyms and you gotta see if it’s worth the investment with the expenses. I do think a gym at home and outside in nature is more ideal/refreshing~

Good lord. 50 a month? That's 600 dollars a year man. I just got a planet fitness membership for 10 a month and I still took a while weighing my options of it was worth it. But 50? Ain't no fuckin way
Mine was 85 a month but I enjoyed the sauna for my allergies... I cancelled and will probably just buy a sauna for my house.
I think it depends what they offer. I have a gym membership that I haven’t used in a while. I tried to go in to cancel it and I’m not able to until August… which I find so stupid. Just let me cancel the damn thing
It depends what extras you get. Free drinks, sauna, advice, group lessons, ... And whether you use those extras.
Gym memberships are for idiots that have money to waste. I lost half of my body weight without EVER going to a gym.
I pay almost that much. If you go a few times a week and take showers there just rhe money you save on hot water makes it worth it
I have equipment at home it’s expensive here in the UK
If you're not going 5 to 7 days a week then yes
Definitely. Gyms should be like public libraries: free for anyone to use.
